Careful, that's a slippery slope to being a fan of public mobile's customer service model.
I’m game with their service model, their services on the other hand... hard pass.

I've heard shaw ditched their retention team. No more deals, what you get is what you get.
They sure had other sales people call me back though offering a better deal. But by that time I already had Telus come by and do their install.

They deal they offered finally was 79 for 300 and 85 for 600, down from like 95 for 300. I tried asking them for better pricing and they wouldn't budge when I contacted them a few times.

I'm still paying 85 for 600, but my 2 years are almost up. Since I can't get FTTH, I'll probably just swap to the Gig plan.

Made the switch to Telus 1 gig fibre today, been a Shaw customer for well over 15 years. I've been getting emails and text messages from Telus about some specials because I am on their EPP with my mobile service so I thought I'd call in to try to see if what they could give me.

They offered me $122 for the 1 gig Internet and Optik TV, which included 4 theme packs and a premium pack (Netflix, Crave, etc). Didn't really want the TV so they offered me $65 for the Internet and Pik TV, which is 23 basic channels plus Crave on demand. They had to throw in the TV in order for the EPP discount to apply. Very happy with this deal. Been trying to get some better pricing with Shaw now that my 2 year value plan is up and the best they could do was $95 plus tax for the Shaw 300 which is what I am on now.

I guess you need 10gb hardware to make this work?
2.5Gbps which is becoming popular without cost of 10Gbps.

Anyone figure out how to disconnect the stupid stand from the Telus T3200M gateway?

There is a pull tab underneath and then it slides backwards.

That's a good deal, thats very close to what I am on now without fibre. They're just wrapping up my street so that's good to know.

Thanks. I must be retarded because I can’t find this tab. I assume screws need to come out first?

Ah yeah maybe. I removed my stand and mounted it a long time ago.

There might be two different stands/mounts.
I had a tab on mine and it was a wall mount version.

I don't have the unit at the moment to check.

OR my memory is completely wrong.

This is the T3200M I am talking about.

Took the screwed out of the stand and can’t figure it out for the life of me.

Anyone get a phone call from their promo department about getting their Pik TV for $10 a month + a "free" apple tv?

I just want to make sure there is no restrictions on the "free" apple tv. like If I only use pik for 2 months that I can cancel. Lady on the phone is like saying there is no restrictions on the apple tv and I own it but fuck if I believe the words coming out of her mouth. She also said that the Pik tv was month to month and I can cancel at any time.

Found a pic. Looks like the part that has the tab to remove is the wall mount that goes over the stand.

Fast.com is easily gamed. I can get 3gbps as well and it’s impossible. I only have gigabit equipment. I never trust those numbers.

Just switched to TELUS from Shaw. Wow what a difference already. Got the Gigabit internet for $75. (85 deal, $200 bill credit for employee referral, and $10 a month discount because im a CoE employee)

Better than the $122 Shaw was going to charge me for 300. I was actually disappointed in Shaws customer service. They didn't seem to care I was disconnecting during the 2 phone calls leading up to my disconnection. The online chat woman tried, but she didn't really have much more to offer me.

I have been frustrated with Shaw's customer support lately especially with latency problems with their internet. Ping Plotter appears to show quite a bit of packet losses. I occasionally play FPS games (hardcore before lol) and it's quite obvious ingame; of the spikes. I'd like to swap the modem once just to see if it is the problem and they won't even let me do that after a few times I talked to them.

How's Telus customer service for internet? My contract with shaw is almost up and I plan to disconnect my TV service (as we just use streaming services only anyway) and just use internet but I was thinking also to switch to Telus Fibre.

I've noticed similar with my internet lately. Speeds show fine but still some packet loss or intermittent delays. So annoying.

I have dealt only a few times with their support, almost always for billing issues when switching plans or getting new retention deal, but they have always been good. I have been a customer forever now on ftth and its rock solid... So never have to talk to technical support, so don't really know. I had an stb die at my parents place that was bought elsewhere, and they just came and replaced it with a new model.. No questions asked, so from the tv perspective they have been great for support.
