War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.
Ended up buying the 17 Laramie, I inquired about in my previous post.
Overall experience was ok. Agreed upon price via email/phone was the out the door price I paid, no extra fees/add on's.
Truck did have an extra, 1,400km than originally advertised, and their "cleaning job" was laughable.
A few more questions;
1. 3m/xpel- what is the must do locations on a truck? I have never owned a truck before, is it the same as on cars?
2. Chrome bumpers, grills, mirrors, side steps, wheels etc.- how do I protect these items from rock chips/rust?
3. Rust inhibitor Under spray worth getting?
4. I turned down the extended warranty, they said it would have reset my warranty from day of purchase for 5 years, covering everything. This included 11 oil changes as well. What are you thoughts on the warranty pricing? Do I still have a window to purchase?
5. Anything else I need to know that I may be forgetting?
Thanks,
1. Front end, fenders, A pillar, leading edge of bed
2. See 3M above - wheels used to be plastic clad, chrome look wheels - still the case?
3. Check to see if it already had a coating. GM’s comes with a wax to protect the frame
4. No to extended warranty - usually you have until the bumper to bumper runs out to buy an extended one
5. White sunglasses
Anyone wants some dual 10" hertz subs in an underseat box i have one for sale. I know you want that bass.

2. We have 2 laramies at work with the chrome wheels. I believe they are just the chrome cladding. Just keep them clean because it seems like the brake dust will eat away at the finish. One of the trucks is a 14 and the wheels are looking pretty bad but I dont think he ever properly cleans the wheels. Pick up some P21S Polishing soap from Autoobssessed or carzilla. Works really good at shining up chrome wheels, grill and running boards. There is not much you can do for rock chips. You can also use automotive steel wool on the running boards and lower and rear chrome bumper (do not use it on chrome plastic). Just always do a test spot to make sure that it does not scratch the chrome, I use it on my gm because of corrosion on the running boards and it works great, they look brand new after 20 minutes with steel wool and polishing soap. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. 3. I think it depends on how long you instead to keep the truck, normally the bodies on the trucks rust before the underside. Keep an eye on the paint around the hemi logo on the fenders. We have 2 rams (2014 and 2013) that are both bubbling under the hemi logo from rust forming, both trucks are silver. One truck has 140k and the other has 120k. Also, rams seem notorious for the ticking sound at startup from bad exhaust manifold gaskets. So keep an eye out for that, we replaced them on both trucks around 100k.
Thanks for all the tips and advice guys!
TRUE NORTH RAMS is a great bunch of people to hang out with if you are into your RAM and also I work aggressive deals for TNR members
Everyday is a great day when you drive a VW
Does every fucking ram have the Exhaust manifold tick and squeaky alternator? lol i swear i walk by at least two a day that sound exactly like mine.
LOl my manifold tick is gone after it was replaced with the broken bolts, ill be upgrading to aftermarket headers asap. The squeak is from the belt, I changed my belt and its gone.
i need to get some aftermarkets too, i've already had them replaced. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
i thought it would be the belt too, but then i listened close and sprayed some lube into the rotating assembly of my alternator and it went away lol.. it doesn't quite sound like a squeaky belt.
Hmmm interesting, Fiance told me shes getting me headers for christmas weird, I replaced the belt and it went away. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you are going to aftermarket headers that won’t have a heat shield just ditch the factory heat shields and replace the manifold bolts with grade 12.9 cap screws. They will last forever and cost you $4.
That's the kinda info i need! Thanks. When i get my garage finished I'm going to do the manifolds as soon as i have a free weekend. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I normally don’t drive mine but this winter I will be and noticed the faintest squeal and the tick has been there for some time once it’s warm it goes away though.
ordered a belt just to see hahaThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
