Karaoke machines anyone?

So my parents got a Karaoke machine for Christmas, they were really excited about it, until we found out we have to pay $2-$3 per song in order to use it. I pay just 10$ a month for all my music, so the idea of paying for the karaoke songs is crazy, call me cheap all you want, but we are going to return it.

Now I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with any other machine that would get the job done but not as expensive, I know nothing about karaoke so any advice would be helpful.

Lots of free programs out there, just search. My telus box also has a free karaoke app that is a blast with everyone when we host parties. You can also get a karaoke unit that comes with 20000+ songs for like $200-$300. I can't remember if mics are included or not but we got ours at the store in Pacific Place. These are like DVD players and you will need a decent sound system to hook it up to.
