You really think its broke millennials supplying the buying power to keep these companies afloat?

Reality check. Boomers want to be seen with the latest and greatest just like anyone else. Except their have their fat nest eggs and disposable income to swing around.

Marketing works just as well on them as it does on ANY other portion of the population. And again, they have all the spending power.

Ontario is going to implement rent control on all buildings soon. Capitalists be damned.

    Source?
I'm surprised CBC doesn't mention anything about this in that segment if this was true. I know NDP wants to do it, but want and actually implementing are 2 different things.

It's amazing how much employers paid people when most married women weren't in the workforce.

I am not trying to be sexist, but when the job markets in the late 70s were getting flooded with mothers putting their kids in daycare and working, employers simply didn't need to pay as competitively since there was less competition to hire and retain staff.

Now that most households are double income many have the ability to bid each other on condos/houses FAR more aggressively which just drives up the housing market. Compounded with the ability to buy homes at 5% down (instead of 25% down like in the 80s and earlier) and low interest rates is it really any wonder that housing prices are skyrocketing?

This isn't a conspiracy. This is just a bunch of factors that are all responsible for the lower wages and higher housing prices we see today.

Don't kid yourselves though. If you're one of these people who buys a new cell phone soon as it comes out, even when the older one still works great, you're no better than the dumb reporter complaining about her condo. Before the standard reply of "but I can afford it, and she can't"... so what? You're sucking Big Marketing's dick just as hard. It's not like the new phone is gonna make you THAT much happier, but you "need" it, right?

Millennials are just brainwashed purposeless consumers. No wonder we're not happy.
Till you remember how old fight club is now and it was about gen x... so business as usual, actually business as usual since the mad men of the 50s

If anything you have the millennial attitude of thinking this generation is actually special

Separate bathrooms don't protect women... They protect men from the horrors of the women's washroom.

Every generation has complained about the generation coming after it. This isn't new, it has been going on for hundreds of years. The details have changed (tablets, social media etc) but every generation has defined itself by becoming something other than it's parents.

I actually do a little work helping older managers and younger employees understand each other, and once you break down a few small barriers, people are just people after all. It may take slightly different communication strategies, but trust me millennials aren't that unique or different, and really, they don't want to be. They'd just like to be treated like worthwhile individuals, which is a universal desire.

A couple buddies and I were chatting about the holy grail back when we were 10-12, going out biking for 12 hours a day through the back 40/various areas on the outskirts of town and finding an abandoned porno mag somewhere that you'd just randomly come across.

One time it was a tranny mag Like wtf? Kids these days have it easy!

Im only 30 but I tried (and failed) to convince my younger co-worker that renting a 2500 dollar 1 bedroom condo is a bad idea. That is my definition of me not giving a fk when someone then complains about not being able to afford a down payment etc. Oh and buying breakfast everyday and lunch. Yes salaries may not have matched housing prices etc but people spen way more money than theyued to

    Buying power != credit.

No other generation has been spammed by marketing to anywhere near the same extent. It's like religion, get 'em when they're young and get 'em hard or they'll be too smart for proper indoctrination.

The movie came out in 1999, when millennials were ~15. Not like a decade makes much difference. If anything, the concepts are the same, just worse today.

    So... you're agreeing with me?

Fight club wasn't about 15 year olds...
