Default Most abundant source of energy on earth.

The most abundant source of energy on earth is the earth spinning itself.

In order to slow the earth from a 24 hour spin to a 24.1 hour spin would probably create as much energy as a 100 billion humans could ever consume in a thousand years (rough estimate)

Maybe we should attach pinwheels into space.

Roughly 1000x more difficult to harness than solar, and geothermal, both of which have sufficient capacity to power the whole planet .

Disappointed there was no reference link to refute.

There is not much science on it. The most you would find is an obscure reference to the Casimir effect, which can generate electricity from the magnetic forces of the earth (large scale version of the forces pushing a compass needle)

Once again, China will probably be pushing money towards this - instead of building more nukes.

Solar and wind are very unreliable. Oil is technically unreliable too because we can run out of it. As long as the earth spins, this type of energy will always be there.

LOL reminds me of some flat earth videos I watched where they attempted to debunk the earth being a rotating sphere due to the problems that the rotation would create with everyday life, airplanes flying etc.

Think about what makes a pinwheel rotate then think about what is missing in the vacuum of space. 😜

Better yet, put little generators under each key of a keyboard. Think of all the power generated by typing internet users. I may have created 0.00000001 watts just typing this message!

Fifteen million merit humans on treadmills would also be an adequate power source

    https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...the-earth-mov/

There is a ridonkulous amount of pent up energy to spin people, oceans and mountain ranges, at the equator at 460 meters per second. I do not doubt the energy estimates.

If we could band the earth with alternating magnetic fields, and then launched geostationary space generators on satellites on a halo ring, then the world would produce unheard of energy output in the biggest standard generator ever made... Muahaha!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-75 < Previous attempt at a space tether produced unexpected result, too much energy production turned the materials it was made out of into plasma, which cause it to break. Yup, too much power.

Casimir effect as a scientific discovery is relatively new, only about 1948 or so.

Well, life expectancy will now be down 8%. That's quite a saving for countries like us with CPP/OAS/GIS system.

    Side note.

Treadmills were used in prisons starting in the early 1800's to crush grain and pump water.

    Soooo, there's an idea

I'm waiting for something like this on walking dead...

All those zombies waking around and no one has
thought to put them to work ???

Line up bunch and have them spin a turbine to generate power.

    Isn't that free energy ?

A 26 hour day would be amazing for climate change. Hotter days, colder nights, bigger storms haha.
