Sears released a list of stores they're closing.
How is Lethbridge not on that list???? Does Sears have stores open that are seriously performing worse than Lethbridge?

Surprised Sears Home are closing. Thought furniture has better margins.
That said, was at Sears last weekend and picked up some cheap ass outlet grade Polos for $20.

Margins are huge, but nobody is going there. We bought a bunch of stuff from the one store that's closing, and it was dead every time we're there. We did get like 40% or 50% off though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yep, remember them well. Got a brake job (4 wheels) and axle seals done at the Woodwards Auto Center in Market Mall. $90.00This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Sears in Marlborough is closing. lease wasn't renewed. condos going up there.
Sears in North Hill. They own that piece of land. Who knows what they will do. Sell it back to the mall LL.
Sears in Marlborough isn't closing because it's already closed.
Will fuck off, again.
Not quite, but close... surprised they have made it this far

Thanks for the correction on that. I seldom head up to that part of town. What else is happening in that mall? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Looks like they're rebuilding that complex with less parking spaces and more establishments. There are standing restaurants around the mall now to generate traffic. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The entire north hill mall is planned for a redevelopment with condos and office space above a brand new mall being built on that same peice of land. Not sure how the sears end fits into the picture, but I do some current tenants have been given notice that their leases as switching to month-to-month.

Are you sure that's not Northland Village? Which I believe is now on hold? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The only North Hill plan I can google on is the SE corner parking lot being redeveloped with Sears untouched. Regardless, with Amazon gaining power, building malls is just a losing proposition.
There are redevelopment mentioned plans for both North Hill and Northland - difficult to say which one will get going first.
Will fuck off, again.

With how busy Chinook, Market, and CrossIron malls are...They are not going anywhere, anytime. If anything, they are only going to get bigger.

I wonder or perhaps speedog can tell me of a time when sears was crazy busy at both those locations, I dont think i've ever seen their stores busy in the ten years ive lived in Calgary. Crazy to think they would even have those two stores so close to each other in the first place.
I counted about 17 retail vacancies in that mall. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Northland. Everyone has redev plans in the works... including Chinook for many many years. Phase one is on the go.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Quite a bit by the sounds of it. always has been a weird mall with odd tenants and short leases. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Why are the malls dying though? And individual stores keep opening? As much as I hate the mall, its a lot easier to walk down a hallway and go door to door, than to keep getting in and out of your car driving 500ft and finding a parking spot one after the next, to walk back inside yet another building..
Sears was amazon before there was even the idea of the internet. A catalog shows up at your door, you put in your order and not too long after your goods show up.. They sure blew that lead.
Cost of utility and maintenance is lower when you have less common area. Parking lot has a lot less maintenance than trying to keep a hallway heated, cooled and cleaned. That's why all new malls are now drive up stores. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I don't think the big 5 (SouthCentre, Chinook, Sunridge, Market, Crossiron) are going away anytime soon. There will always be need for fashion stores where people need to try on stuff. Electronics should slowly dies out. Everything else would be service based going forward.
