I like it because it is way out there. I remember all the concept cars from the 80s and 90s that never made it into production, or if they did make it, it was radically changed from what the concept was.

    I'd rock it.

    I can't believe they didn't produce a V8 version . So sad.

So it's going to be under 2000lbs if horse power is around 630HP.

Doesn't matter, only 1000 made and all spoken for. Going to be a wicked collectible like the last one.

I'm curious to see the longevity of the engine. With all that power, it's bound to be driven hard by enthusiasts. Everything looks promising, let's hope it's not overhyped and underwhelming.

I don't think the longevity is in question any more. From what I understand it is the same 3.5L ecoboost found in the F-150s, and it has proven itself to be pretty robust, and it has been available for over 5 years now. These engines have shown time and again that Ford left a TON of power off the table with the tuning setup, so I don't really think that even the power output is much of an issue with a few upgrade tweaks.

The only real dark cloud I have on this, is the fuel economy. Mind you, if you are buying one of these, the cost of a tank of gas isn't really a consideration.

Not the same engine. This one has a desmodromic valvetrain.

Jamaal did say production. You know he'll come out later and say <999 units or something.

Exactly. The only real commonality the engine shares with a production 3.5 EB is displacement. The engine going into the GT will be a close derivative of the race engine that has well proven itself in the Daytona prototype cars and the race GT.

Much like when the 04'-06' GT debuted many initially thought it used the same 5.4L supercharged engine that Ford used in the Lightning. The engines were completely different of course.

The engine in the 05/06 was similar to the truck engine, but no not exactly the same. Still relatively simple for a supercar IMO.

I've read that the 3.5 ecoboost is suppose to be very similar to the one the raptor is getting. Seems like there's anticipation for cross parts between the two. The engine has already proven to be reliable if you looks at its impressive track record already.
I don't understand why everyone is so butt hurt about 6 vs 8 cylinder.

It's not even the same engine in the base F-150. The only thing the second gen 3.5 Ecoboost has in common with the first is the displacement.

I fear that most of these cars, if not all, will be collected and never driven hard.

Er, I'd be very surprised if the GT used a desmo valvetrain. I'd assume it uses the same (or similar) roller-finger follower used in the current 3.5EB.

Nope you're correct. It has finger followers. I was reading about ducatis at the time lol.

Hope it sounds like a jet like in this video, because WHAA-can't hear you, FIRIN' mah turbos!

    ^Vid embed didn't work.

    So:

But yeah the couple dozen 2017 Raptors that have come in...the 3.5TT in those didn't sound all that impressive. Nice wailing sound and loud turbo noise. Sport/Baja mode doesn't change the exhaust loudness which it should. LOVE the exhaust button in the GT350.

    Specs finally released!
OP's predictions were incorrect. Still impressive car

    647hp 550ftlbs

Not the best power to weight ratio, but still impressive.

Consider me baffled. Although this is a very serious car, they didn't come through with their claims at all haha.

Regardless for the price it's kind of unappealing. 3173lbs curb. Not super lightweight.

I kinda knew that's a lie when he said it.

    GT vs 488GTB
    1385kg vs 1370kg
    638HP vs 661HP
    550lb/ft vs 560lb/ft

    488GTB has a 0-62 of 3s. So Ford is probably gonna post a a sub 3s 0-60 figure.

So not only GT won't beat any hyper cars, it barely matches a high production super car.

I guess their light weight claims were before they tested the car

They decided to add active suspension and aero which is what makes it heavy. Apparently it was faster with the heavy extras than without.

    Still an impressive car.
I think I prefer previous generations appearance wise. For the money I would get an 05 GT or a superperfromance/shelby GT40
