Last time we used this website and the prices or terms were quite a bit better than places like Expedia or Kayak. Not sure if it's still the case now: https://www.discounthawaiicarrental.com/en-ca/

By the way, here's a screenshot of the price I paid last time and got a full size SUV at Waikiki

Quick question. I've never been to Hawaii but a while ago when I was looking, they didn't have vacation all inclusive packages, do they do this yet? Is it even worth it based on all of the other options there are nowadays?

Outside of resort all-inclusive, I don't think there's any package that's worth it unless you have some sort of travel agency that has a group rate/discount that a pleb doesn't have access to. Personal opinion, not specific to Hawaii.

No all inclusive anywhere in Hawaii that I’m aware of.

    Isn’t that a Mexico thing?

Generally speaking with Hawaii I just get a condo with a kitchen and enjoy local food + a solid Costco run

If you bring your chef and maid, then the house can be an all inclusive if it's large enough.

Hawaii has been on my list of places to go since forever, but I could never justify the cost of not having an all inclusive. I'm cheap.

They have a Costco & amazing rentals. You can have a similar experience without breaking your wallet.

Airfare to Hawaii is reasonable (just went for $350 round trip). Food can be budgeted if you make your own meals and eat at reasonably priced restaurants (they have some great food trucks). There are lots of activities that are free or cheap (laying at the beach, snorkelling, hiking). Accommodation will be you biggest expense.

Ya I honestly can't justify making my own meals on vacation. I'm cheap, but also very high maintenance at the same time lol

There is no difference between all inclusive and a la carte if you don’t look at the bill.

Though I’ll admit the cost of resort food and drink in Hawaii is a bit out of hand.

Hawaii is as cheap or expensive as you want it to be in my opinion. Flights are always cheap/affordable, I signed up for the westjet credit card last year and got $450 westjet dollars and a $0 companion pass so I think we paid $200ish out of pocket for our flights and most of that was seat selection fees.

Rental car was paid for by credit card travel points, food/booze is a Costco trip and eat like a king all trip.

Our rental for our last trip had an insane amount of fruit growing on the property and a massive avocado tree so we had never ending fruit for free.

Lodging is the most costly part of the trip and that's dependent on what you want/ need as far a location, privacy, beach proximity, etc goes.

We used to do all inclusive in Cuba, Jamaica, etc but after going to Hawaii once it's our go to tropical destination.

That all being said we like to cook for ourselves and prefer no crowds so hotel stays aren't for us personally. You can do Hawaii for cheap even with USD being strong.

Hawaii can be as expensive as you want, or actually quite reasonable.

Hawaii doesn't have to be expensive unless you want it be ( a friend just came from staying at the Four Seasons Waikiki for $3k/night). Most of the things you would to do are free/cheap, like beach lounging, kayaking, snorkeling, surfing, hiking etc.. it's all about t

Going out to eat is no different than any other cities. If anything, it's WAY cheaper than Vegas. Only thing that's definitely expensive is accommodation.

Depends a lot on what island and area you are on. Restaurants for dinner in Wailea are as expensive as anywhere I have been worldwide. Some of it really good some places that are clearly coasting.

If you are into that sort of thing.

Good food is generally something I don’t have many qualms about paying a bit more for on vacation.
