What does Costa Rica cost compared to Hawaii?

That should give you a reasonable indication on how they compare.

I've been to both, this is accurate.

Costa Rica is much more comparable to Mexico. I liked it better than Mexico, but it's not comparable to Hawaii at all.

I would have to disagree for the simple fact you still have to travel into Mexico lol

2 totally different type of vacation between Hawaii and Mexico, both are nice, either one you will be able to relax and enjoy although yeah most likely Hawaii will be more expensive since it is US dollar.

Reason why Hawaii wins for me is that it is easier and safer to wander around the islands than Mexico plus everyone speaks English.

Go Maldives if you want $$$ Mexico experience, Hawaii for budget French Polynesian experience.

Better places to vacation than Maui for me:

Barbados
Turks and Caicos
Grenada
A couple other small islands.

Safe, everyone speaks English, free to roam around and explore.

Maui's biggest draw is the kid friendliness with lots of things to keep kids and families entertained.

Caribbean is good for non-surfing trips… but also a PITA to get to from here, Mexico and Hawaii at least have direct flights.

Most islands seem to have a pretty sketchy vibe just under the surface, but most know better than to fuck with tourism… been the last flight out of two countries right before coup’s even and yeah the increased military presence was unnerving, but never felt like we were in danger

Yeah, that one was on resort for the most part… did a 4x4 day trip though. Ate giant lobsters and watched a whole lot of stray dogs fucking each other in the street during the lunch stop
