Default Stolen items from our shop on kijiji

    http://www.kijiji.ca/v-buy-sell-othe...ationFlag=true

Our shop yard was broken into and had some items that belonged to the owners Dad stolen. The ad attached are the exact rims and tires taken this weekend and popped up the day after. Coincidence? WWBD (What would Beyond Do)

I have zero problem showing up and taking them, i could almost match the snow on the wheels in the pic to the spot they threw them over the fence in the snow lol

Well, are you willing to risk an assault charge if you go there and recover them yourself?

If not, maybe dial the non-emergency number (403-266-1234) and give them the evidence you have.

You mean stock Ford rims with stock tires on them..... Unless they have some sort of mark or something on them that tells you they are the ones stolen you probably cant prove it.

Hard to prove ownership unless there is unique markings and photo evidence of the markings.

He has a few things for sale and the account is from 2009. I'd be less inclined to think he's a scammer under these circumstances but who knows

I figured these would be the responses, I understand it's "impossible to prove"... I called the guy, he is trying to offload them ASAP as he is going back to BC... He doesn't know what year truck they are off of, he "acquired" them...

I have no need for an assault charge lol, cops are "investigating" to see what else turns up (Dagger Diesel was broken into as well, they are going to "try" and set up an appointment)

Doesn't matter police will throw you down and arrest you in public for suspected stolen radar detector.

...I was just about to post my exact same rims and tires for sale.

Suspicious he doesn't know what year truck they're off of, but very common wheels/tires.

I see rims like that up for sale quite often...

And to be honest, those are stock rims and tires and are REALLY common...I mean, they could be yours, but...how would you be able to identify them 100% as yours...

$800 for 80% Pirellis on 20s is a good price, could likely haggle for $700 lol

Very similar issue with my coworker. Police did not give a single fuck even though she had done 99% of the work for them, evidence, serial numbers, found another person this exact thief scammed before, same name, meeting place, contact info, etc. Literally all that was left to do was respond to the Kijiji ad, and arrest the guy, along with presumably a ton of other stolen goods (he had lots of ads up). Nothing was ever even looked into.

Sure, they could have rounded up all their buddies and potentially endangered their lives, but that wasn't an option.

They ended up buying back their own product from the thief, because it was cheaper than a new one and the police were completely uninterested in helping. How sad is that?

Either forget about it or do something about it yourself, the police won't even touch something like this.

Tell the cops where and when you are meeting and say you're going there to get your stuff back by any means. They'll show up right quick lol

Maybe a threat like that would have got their attention, who knows. I don't imagine the time window would be very large either, the thief would want to sell the goods and GTFO.

Also we're talking about $5000+ generators here, not a cell phone or some little item.

That's really weird. I had someone scam me on Kijiji for $200 and the police spent a lot of time on it, even though they could have said "buyer beware". Guess it depends on the constable working on your case.

Ended up recovering $160 of it.

My coworker's friend, who did the exact same thing (bought her own product back from the exact same individual at the exact same meeting place) did so because the police weren't interested in helping her out either.

You have the contact info, serial numbers, proof, etc. and it's still not enough to get their attention. Thieves must be having a field day. You'd think the officers or detectives or whoever they assign to this would want the free 'wins' on their record.

That's awesome they helped you out, especially on a lower value item, but it doesn't appear to be the norm.

OP, if the tires have TPMS and you haven't already synced new ones, wouldn't your truck recognize them right away?
