Default Project TurboII, Back to my roots.

    Hey guys,

Well, i ended up getting a bit scared of the economy, and traded my FD from my other thread, for a pretty nice truck. I figured, worst case scenario the truck would sell easier than the car if i got in a pinch.

At any rate, i guess i dont know myself, because i physically just CANNOT be without a project.

Im currently working on a 13b-rew Bridge port, but didnt have a car to put it in. I had planned on buying another FD, but then im stuck with another RHD, and while thats not the worst thing, its not ideal.

Then i stumbled upon this gem:

Shes a 1987 Turbo II Fc with 170,000km on her. No rust, Straight body, good title.

So, plans? Drop in a bridge ported 13brew, run it on the tII drivetrain, maybe an EFR 8374 if the budget allows....not sure on ecu yet. MAY megasquirt it. I have some time to decide (=.

    Thanks for looking!

Thanks dude! I just ordered my template from Pineapple for a bridge port. Also ordered a few new tools. Stepped wear indicator, and some v blocks (=

Also, i think ive decided to run the engine on an Ms3X. Then i have the capabilities to run shadow dash, gauges on the cheap!

Hopefully i can start porting the irons and cleaning up some parts soon. I have a set of Atkins solid corner seals to use on it as well. Should be great for the brap, plus there arent many REW powered fc3s around

Went thru all my components today, did a good visual, etc. The rotor housings are low K and mint, but i will still be sending them away to Freelance to get ground. They did such a good job last time, i think its a great investment to do again.

Once my porting templates get here, i will start the porting process, and then, depending on stepped wear, get a quick lap done to smoothe them out.

Im debating having corner clearancing and lightening/balancing done....we will see what budget says.

    More to come.

Why not port the housings before you send them away to be lapped?

I do, lol i guess i kinda left that out.

I send my ROTOR housings away to get ground, and port them after, simple because, if for some reason they CANT be ground, i wouldnt want to waste my time porting.

But yes, when i do the intake ports, the lapping is the last stop before the build (=

    More tools arrived today.

    Stepped wear indicator:

Vblocks, ive needed these for awhile

And the best part, Pineapple bridge port template:

Stepped wear in ANY location showed less than .0004 of an inch. Were golden!

So while I love the turbo2 (and the hood), if you are looking to clean up the looks/make it sleeper after you go to a front mount, the convertible car hoods are aluminum and don't have the scoop

but you probably already knew that

Love the car. Hits me right in the childhood.

Why? Are LHD FDs too hard to come by?

Well, i did a thing. They JUST released the Elite 1000 Haltech on monday, so since this would be perfect, i jumped on it. Its basically an Elite 1500 without DBW support (which i dont need)

Also, my zietronix multigauge for my zt2 i had kicking around, came in. Pretty sweet gauge. Capabilities to monitor many different channels from the zt2 logging unit.

Also, on its way from japan, compliments of nopppin, s5 tails, s5 cluster, coilovers, and a few small plastic parts i needed (=

More to come as the engine build gets started.

yes, im looking forward to tuning it with a full VE based fuel model. The sport 2000 tables looked funny the way they worked the injector staging in. Ive already done up a base map for the Elite, it looks pretty (=
