Attic Rain (truss rain) - Help

My case is very simlar and now I have wet insulation and numerous wet spots on the celing

I reckon a number of indivudals are dealing with this due to the temp swings, and for those who aren't but are living in a late model house to check...

I somehow have to get on the roof to check for the vents, and need to find a way to quickly dry this out before it becomes a mold issue...

any suggestions?

Asides from the bathroom exhaust likely venting into your attic, you probably don't have adequate attic ventilation to begin with, hence the moisture trap. I've got a powered attic fan that works great for heat removal in summer, and I know there's an optional humidistat for it instead of thermostat.

I think many homes have this problem in Calgary and most people never look up there to notice.

I have the same problem just not enough to actually stain my ceiling. Been in the house 6 years and still no sign of mold. I think the high heat and dryness in summer is enough here to help us completely dry out attics.

Couple options are, add more insulation, add a fan, make sure soffit areas are clear for air circ, and as said make sure your bathroom vents are connected properly. I will be adding a fan next spring. There are a couple solar power options in the $300 range that get good reviews.

You have to seal every hole in your attic. The biggest one by far is your attic hatch. Spray foam behind the trim. Make sure the hatch box is VB'ed properly.

Go into your attic, spray foam the holes. The main culprits will be electrical line runs. Hopefully your builder was merciful and only made one or two holes for them. Seal around the plumbing vent stack.

Also go into your basement and plug up any holes in the floor where HVAC, etc intrude. Use batt insulation.

I had this happen in my old house. The builder came and blew in more insulation and I never had the problem again.
