Probably would have done better if they at least pricematched

I used to go to the HMV in Market Mall to see what was new and then scoot down the sneaky back hallway to Sam the Record Man to often find the same CD for $2-$3 less, mad savings
I always thought this store closed down a long time ago, and then I see the odd remaining store. Blows my mind they kept it around for so long. Overpriced too, and no effort made to compete. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.
So much for that 10 year old gift card I keep digging up when I move houses.
The HMV in West Edmonton Mall is nice!!
I was at the Chinook location this weekend, saw the whole going out of business sale. 10% off original prices for movies, 20% off original prices on clothing, still overpriced to hell.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

They are doing the Target thing. Move whatever you can, then increase the discount and if nothing else moves, goes to liquidator.Originally posted by rage2

That said, out the 3 Star Wars original trilogy posters, Empires got clean out already at Crossiron.

I'm actually a little surprised. I figured that they made a lot of profit off beanies, comic books and other baubles. HMW Chinook was one of the few brick and mortar stores that I went to semi regularly. I miss A&B Sound more though.
MusicWorld, Sam the record man, A & B Sound, Future Shop. now HMV.....whats left Walmart and Bestbuy?
Best buy doesn't sell music anymore.

Totally forgot that Best Buy used to have a CD section. Memories.
I did appreciate new releases/music a lot more back in the day. Nowadays you pay 10 bucks for spotify/apple music for more music you can handle. It's like eating a buffet for every meal. You stop appreciating food. There's an aura of exclusivity when the only way to access new music was handing over hard earned money lol.
Who pays $10 for Spotify. Just wait for the three months for 99 cent deal and use spam email accounts.
Kids nowadays have access to a ridiculous amount of digitally transmittable culture for almost free.

Thanks for the heads up.
1994 Mustang - SBF swap in progress
Market HMV has at least 30% off the entire store now, still overpriced. Walked by when I was taking the kids to toys r us, still no shoppers in there.
Didn't walk in when I saw how weak the discount is.
What are they selling at 30% off, compact discs and DVDs? I doubt they could even give those away, I don't even own anything that can accept a disc like that.
Actually my office workstation might have a DVD drive, not sure though as I've never tried to use it.
Really? I might swing by and buy a Superman mug lolOriginally posted by bigboom
