Default Free OBD2 scan in calgary?

Ford F150 started showing the check engine light yesterday. Does anyone do free scans (preferably NW)? Or am I better off buying a cheap one.

    Thanks

+1 on autovalue. But yea princess auto often has a basic one on sale for $30. I have one in the glove box of each car.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

Pick up a bluetooth one through amazon for $30 and get the torque app. They are super handy.

yeah autovalue has done them for me before, but i got one of the bluetooth ones so i do my own now

Pretty cool to see real time a/f ratio and fuel mileage on vehicles that dont provide that info on the dash.... i mean, its cool until i use it in my truck while pulling the trailer... then i cringe

+1 for Bluetooth ELM and Torque. Its worked on every vehicle I've ever used it on, including my Triumph motorcycle. Has been a lifesaver for years.

I also use it to keep the dealerships honest. I scan my codes before I take them in, screenshot the code #'s and descriptions, and then if they pull anything (like VW did with my intake manifold) I have date and time stamps with code numbers and stuff. Also helpful for when your stored codes clear before your appointment

    I have this one.

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like it because it is compatible with Fords CANBUS system and can change some settings via Forscan.

Thanks guys. Ended up going to Auto Value and getting it scanned.

Turns out its the O2 sensor. Any idea what labor/parts would cost to get this fixed? And shop recommendations (preferably NW).

On another note, will probably buy the scanner below and get the Torque app.

Bank2 sensor 2, sounds to me like the sensor that just makes sure the cat is working efficiently, do some research, if thats the one, dont bother fixing it... just get a sensor delete, those ones are just a cash grab.

Basically just emissions bullshit saying your cat isn't capturing the unburnt fuel and releasing it out your exhaust... not a concern, it typically wont cause any performance issues, and if you try to get it repaired you will likely end up in having to replace the CAT which is not a cheap venture.

Clear the codes, see if it comes back. Could just be sensor fell out of range for a second.
Could look at replacing but after that, if it came back, most likely the CAT isn't working.

i would take a peek at the O2 sensor wiring too. with this weather there's a chance you've scrubbed and damaged it if you didnt clear an icy pile of snow
