Signaling left to go right is insaneOriginally posted by Amysicle
Is it left to jump in and right when you want out?
It seems so on our piddly circles but in Europe where traffic circles are huge and can be many multiple lanes with a dozen exits, leaving your signal on left lets the other drivers see easier (visual cues) you are intending to stay in the circle until you flip right ready to exit. It simply works...Originally posted by ercchry

Maybe if you're in the most inner circle, but if not that would just confuse the other drivers going around with you, no?Originally posted by tirebob

Just slightly worse than no signal at all...Originally posted by ercchry

Crowchild NB prior to 17th Ave SW. Right turn/sweeper. You decide to change lanes from the middle lane to the left (fast) lane in the middle of the turn. Do you signal left or right?Originally posted by ercchry

Or better example, same location and you're in the right lane. It ends for construction. You need to change to the middle lane. Do you signal left or right?

fucking hate any traffic circle with more than two lanes. Had one triple laner in NZ that I went through a few times, Pretty much just hit the horn and went for it each time. Nobody hit me, so I guess that was fine. This was before smartphones were a thing, so I usually wasn't sure which exit I needed before entering as well. That added some spice.

There really is no need... besides of obvious of "never trust a signal" which has already been explained. It's pretty straight forward.Originally posted by aaronck

Let's take the two lane circle for example. The rules (the REAL rules, not the nonsense they keep changing up in the mac towne circle) are simple:
-right lane exits at first exit
-left lane can sit in the circle for infinity
-left lane to left lane, right to right while exiting
-traffic entering the circle yields to traffic in the circle
So here we go:
» Click image for larger version
Car A- doesn't affect a single fucking person's travel
Car B- this guy has to yield, single or not... he sits there till it's SAFE to enter. Where is he going?! Well he has one option... inside lane, counter clockwise in this country
Car C- this guy is exiting, once his car has changed direction, car B may safely make a move for the inside lane. Single on or off. It changes NOTHING, why? Cause he has the right of way, you hit him if he is signalling or not you are at fault. Just don't hit him!
Car D- same rights as C, only pictured to show heavier traffic
Single left if you're car B? You're telling car D "hey buddy! Gonna drive right into your grill!"
Car C signalling right? See "he has the right of way" and "never trust a signal"
Be sheep or not, I don't care. But to think I don't know wtf I'm doing is asinine, it's like math and bedmas, follow the order of operations and you don't need your fellow drivers to give you permission with a flashing light, cause the general public is just too fucking stupid to trust
Changing lanes while established on the roadway =/= signalling against traffic while merging on to a roadOriginally posted by rage2

That's why I noted my 2nd example to be better. If you don't create exception to the rule, the signal left to merge into the circle makes perfect sense.Originally posted by ercchry
