It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

If anyone has any questions about these homes please PM me. I work for the Town of High River and can probably help anyone seriously interested.

The homes will probably end up around 100k depending on size of course. Moving costs will be 50-100k depending if the home has to be split for moving.

If I had land awaiting a house, this would be something to look at... at least the mansions

Or split it and take the garages

I looked at the costs of doing this and soon found out why most houses to be moved are free.

The costs are bad if you're hiring...

Most of these will get bought by house moving companies who will resell them at a delivered price. That seems to be how it usually goes.

160 days seems like a tight deadline for an average person also.

If they are considered salvageable, why not salvage them on-the-spot?

Even with a lot of do-it-yourselfing, it was still a lot of money. I factored in that I could handle all the mechanical, hvac, electrical myself, along with some of the touch up work on the structure. There is a lot of property out there for sale at the same price point, and you wouldn't have to lift a finger to end up with an older home.
You are probably right about the moving companies buying the houses themselves, which might have caused the market price for moving the houses to go up on their own to dissuade people from pursuing the initial auction purchase. I asked for a firm price to move a certain house and just got wide ranging ball park figures.
The homes are being moved because they were built on a flood plain and the land reclaimed to its natural state.

all the info is in the ads, basically they're just gonna get flooded again and they want that land area for flood mitigation land.

Moving houses isn't really a DIY project...

I got to watch one get moved off in HR for a new foundation. 3 months later it reappeared on the road. We did a wtf... It disappeared - and they built a new house on the new foundation.

And that was professionals - all big name companies.

Seem to recall the same issue happened with the train station in beiseker.

Building new foundations for old houses isnt childs play.

I can handle everything but the actual move, even doing my own excavating, it still not financially worth it. You really got to love a house to move it.
