They still do. Damn free breakfasts when the rest of us have to deal with stupid oatmeal we bring from home.

Not much news on this, only story I could find:
    https://globalnews.ca/news/4331316/c...loses-sources/
500 people out of work and a whole bunch of wholesalers owed huge amounts apparently.
I remember them being 2-3 trucks way back when.
I bought the contents of a 40' seacan at their auction. Crazy how one large job can sink the ship

And here I thought the greasy stuff you were referring to was getting rid of the kitchen staff making CP employees breakfast.
Thought you were talking about CP Rail for a second... and was like, they definitely pay for their own breakfast lol. Got to keep that Operating Ratio low.

A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.

I think primarily it has more to with how the AUC has changed how the regulated side of the business gets/uses its money. So they are trying to save I guess... above my pay grade though. IMO I think that this stems from the NDP losing the PPA lawsuit so they found another way to go after any utility that wouldn't bow to their demands.

From what I've heard most people who want a little space generally are more of a pain than its worth.

I think there will be more shake-ups even after today and tomorrow pass. Seems like a whole ongoing re-org is happening.

My understanding of it when I used to work for Fortis was that each year Fortis and I guess other alberta utilities wrote a request to the province with all the possible reasons they needed money and the province just approved the rate rise to reflect the request for more money. Is that how it works or did something change, or the govt pushback since they have set a price cap on how much power costs?

The way it was explained to me was that they used to take the 3 year average of spend and that is what they would give more or less. This year they changed that and chose to use 2016 only as a marker which for us was a really low year as they were adjusting to the market conditions and the cuts they made in 2015. As a result they need to find 100 million in savings over the next 5 years supposedly.

Fortis is in the same boat, early retirement packages are being offered first before the axe.
Theoretically it impacts all distribution facilities owners (Enmax, Fortis, Atco, City of Lethbridge, City of Red Deer, EPCOR) equally. Just depends how they've chosen to cut back and how much at risk the area's that were re-based are impacted. At least that is my understanding. Not sure on the transmission facility owners hearing right now as there are a couple general tariff applications in front of the AUC for them too, so that might be coming.

That is old cost of service model. In 2008 they changed to something called PBR which gave you a benchmark amount of money then increased or decreased with cost savings and inflation factored in and was active until 2016. 2017 (well 2018-2022) is currently being argued with more cuts to the model, hence the pain in utilities right now.

R&V for all DFO's just came out last night from the AUC proceeding. One section is being reviewed but the other two R&V's were denied. I'm not in finance so not sure if that one is the one that made up the shortfall. One of the ones denied specifically stated that $12,000,000 shortfall a year for enmax based on the accounting test. So dunno..... impacts all wire owners though for sure. All of this is public (all AUC hearings are public) on the website if you want to read 30 pages of the decision. None of this would be insider knowledge, just boring if you don't care. Haha

There were large layoffs at Cenovus earlier this week. Everybody at your desks at 8AM type deal.
