Don't know any other reason short of a zombie outbreak why the RCMP would be so short on details for an emergency situation.
And as mentioned, it just feels like it. They did the same thing when it happened in Ontario.

Probably because it's responsible to know exactly what happens before reporting it. If they report a mass shooting and it's just a domestic dispute or something, they would catch so much flak for potentially causing hysteria, especially with a school in the area.

Because what was reported is that police are negotiating with someone in a home and it doesn't involve the school. And that information was available when you posted.

Seems like a weird overreaction to close all the schools. I get the high school since it's apparently really close, but there's no mention of how close the other schools are.

Or am I overestimating the size of Pincher Creek?

It's small.

I think there's 2 schools within a few blocks of the highschool. Then one more that's a few more blocks away? Like 15 min walk from highschool to the farthest school.

For the size of Pincher it's probably easier to just shut down everything if there's an emergency.
