Default Should you buy NEW or USED Exotic Cars

For those who really do have the funds, and also wiz away large volumes of cash, obviously buying new, is the answer. The questions ultimately is, should you buy a supercar new or used ? Which is better for the long term, and which would you do even if you have a decent cash flow that could support either ?

Total rubbish. That guys argument is just shit, and the example is out to lunch.

The PROPER question is: buy new or 1 year old of the CURRENT generation.

Buying the one year old car is always the best move.

    Best example R8 V10 plus. Buy a '16 save a lot.

I can't believe he was comparing 10+ year old cars to new haha.

I think I've only ever once bought a car new...my old GTI. (Loved that car).

I'm in the market for a mid-life-crisis car - probably sometime this year - and I suspect I will end up with something 2-3 years old. No matter what price point you choose, getting something almost new gets you into a better car than if you actually bought new.

Edit: and there was no 2016 R8 here.

I didn't actually check (maybe I should have lol). My point was made.

Enter favourite exotic that is not:

    GT3, Speciale, GT3 RS.

    Honourable mention GT4, GT350R.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

With the exception of maybe the gt3 aren't the others on darkane's list pretty low production? Maybe that is what is driving it?

I don't think it's that simple to just go out and find a one year old GT3 or R8. These cars sell is such limited numbers in Calgary that you would need to look at other markets to find the one you want. Sure there's probably a few of them in the States, but by the time you import it with our crappy dollar you might as well buy a new one.

You wouldn't want to buy any of those "bubble" cars right now, anyway.

The only bubble car I'd consider if I was in the position to purchase would be the GT4, even at $130k you're get one hell of a car that will like continue to appreciate in value.

I'm always a little less interested in cars that are just jazzed up versions of regular cars. I think it's always worth it to bump up to the next base model, than it is to get a heavily optioned lower car. For instance a base 5 series is better than an optioned 3 series dollar for dollar.

There are some exceptions to the rule: if there is not better car...like the E63 wagon or something.

I have always thought the Gallardo was one of Lamborghini's best looking designs. Proportions of the V12 lambo's have been off since the murcielago.

Lamborghini Gallardo SE was so hot when it came out

I don't know...I really like the look of the Aventador. But it's not a great car to drive.
