I think we are all just in different points in our lives too though. My cousins whom are teenagers, their facebooks are as I remember it when I was in University, all socializing and shit haha. My facebook is similar to as you all said all advertisements. I think Facebook has changed for sure but I'd say it's more so content is now different because of where we are in our lives.
I see that guy and all I think of is Sean Banerjee but more savvy with his fake life.Originally posted by sexualbanana

Oh God. One of my friends today is spamming every health related Facebook page under the sun with some kind of "tech" device from something called health and lifestyle oracle.
Goodnight grief.....

On a side note, there is a new store in Southcentre opening up selling craft beer.
Cocoa $11,000 per tonne.
The best is when an old friend/acquaintance you haven't seen in forever messages you on facebook to catch up and grab a bite to eat.
Then you get there and all they want is to help you get rich with this awesome opportunity with their "totally not a pyramid scheme".
telemarketers, scammers, cold call salesmen, spammers.Originally posted by ExtraSlow
I'll never look down at anyone who has found a way to access an additional source of income. I have two close friends who are hard into the R&F system, and they are putting in a lot more work than just a couple facebook posts per week. They make pretty nice monthly pocket money too.
Whoever said above that facebook is 100% an advertising platform, is 100% correct. If you aren't marketing, then you are the market.
Same is true on EVERY social media platform.
I'll look down on these people all day long no matter how hard they work.
I dont direct market personal brand pyramid scheme stuff, but i have found facebook to be an incredibly useful marketing platform for my business. The ROI is crazy!
1968 Impala: Status: Stored
1977 Dodge Triple E RV: Sold
1989 Mercedes Benz 420 SEL: Sold
2008 Mercedes Benz C230: Cruising
2000 Bluebird TC2000: Build phase of skoolie project
2018 Rav4 XLE: New baby friendly daily
In my eyes personal businesses are a bit different and I can give some leeway to them. Things like shakeology, roden and fields, scentsy etc are not personal businesses, you are nothing more than a sales rep for a giant company that has been pretty intelligent in essentially removing (almost) all overhead. You have a set script you need to stick to, you have to conform with their marketing, you have to promote the products they want you to when they want you to. There is absolutely nothing personal or entrepreneurial about it.Originally posted by cycosis

But still, doing things like creating a business page and link it on your profile is a lot different than mixing marketing in with your family vacation photos. Do the latter and I will boycott your product/service regardless how good it is and I think a lot of people do the same.
World Financial Group. I know so many knuckle draggers trying to get me to come to their sessions they put on so I can gain financial freedom just like them. Listen here Jimmy, until you can spell your own name correctly, the last thing I want to do is take any financial advice from you.

A guy I know would always post up these vacation pics of the WFG gang. I'm sure those at the top have it good, everyone else in the trenches, good luck.

I remember going to some scammy rich dad poor dad thing long time ago (I guess this is the latest version of that age old scam?). I remember thinking man, these guys prey on people with zero financial knowledge with some crappy get rich quick scheme claiming maximum money with minimal effort in minimal time, which the detalis of which only jesus knows, because they never actually gave any plan (just a lot of YOU CAN BE RICH TOO!!! and here is the proof cuz this next speaker is going to tell you how rich he thinks he is! crap). I have no idea how organizations like this are not in jail, because it is just one big con.
I felt bad for the people who invited me, because they were hooked and had no clue they were never going to see a dime from whatever they were buying into.
I enjoy how offended people get when you tell them you don't want to be part of their "pyramid" scheme. Great way to make your family and friends hate you.
Lost a couple friends/acquaintances this way.
"Um its not a pyramid scheme, we are offering a service to people so they can take control of their own finances." Thats how I lost a friend last year over it.Originally posted by craigcd

With WFG they always have "corporate retreats" where they need to pay out of pocket to go to these conferences all over the world. I know two completely separate people from two different cities who last year alone went to Japan, Vegas and Kelowna all for WFG.
I can give a smidgen of respect for people who actually sell a product because there is a tangible exchange there, World Financial Group just screams scam.

When I worked retail those guys would drop into the store all the time. Pretty hard to tell them to fuck off without getting in trouble.Originally posted by schurchill39

How do people not google these things prior to joining? I know a guy who has apparently done very well, or I think very well based on FB with WFG. Reminds me of the "Wolf of Wallstreet"
The one requisite of selling mlm is telling everyone how well you're doing because of it.
I knew one girl that mentioned in a FB comments that she had just that week bought some starter kit from a makeup MLM and when it came it she could start selling it to people and giving out samples or something. Two weeks later her timeline was filled with quotes like "laying in bed enjoying my financial freedom" posts. Two months later they stopped completely.
And every other week I get a WFG reach out call from an old coworker, or some broscience rig hand selling me some supplement. Or thrive. FML thrive. "1 week of wearing the patch and my life is changed!!".
I blame the recession mostly. Seems to have amplified both stupidity and desperation.
I can eat more hot wings than you.
Lol @ WFG!! I sold a phone on kijiji and buddy shows up with his land whale of a gf. Buddy is wearing this cheesy green tie ($$$$$ money bags) and trying to hand me his little scam book "I need it back after 1 week."
Some distant 'friend' on facebook has started with this hair product stuff and apparently it's going 'really well'. Posted photos of her down in the states at some conference and apparently now she's met some 'level' and 'gets' a car.
I also have 2 friends on FB who are into Arbonne in a big way.
