What kind of tires are guys running in Alberta? I tried X-ice's and hated them, they honestly felt worse than my all season's on normal dry ice conditions. Had duratracs on my xterra which not surprisingly were great in deep snow but terrible on ice as well. Running Discoverer AT-W's on my van right now and they're also pretty underwhelming, but that's more a van thing than tires I'm thinking.
Hopefully Tirebob chimes in here. Majority of my family and my wife and I outfit all of our vehicles with Federal Himalayas. Amazing winter tires, i'd say they perform just as well as Blizzaks and Nokians, but they don't cost nearly as much. I actually find that these Himalayans actually last longer than my old Blizzaks as well. Also if you want to be indestructible, the Himalayas can be studded
