Yeah, both my roofs are south as well, but they are very low pitch. I have to do my roof sooner than later, so am wondering if I should go balls out and increase the pitch to help with future solar panels. Just through Lowes themselves, or do you do it through the Efficiency Alberta site?
Lowes itself. I was wandering around one day, guy stopped me, I brushed him off, and he replied "I understand, but I'm not trying to sell you a credit card", so I stopped and actually talked to him. He took my name/number/email/address down, and they called me and walked me through the process a few weeks later.

    Bump.
Got my $100 rebate today for a Lyric T5 thermostat that was only $88. What a stupid system but I'll take it in order to claw back some of the carbon tax I've been stuck paying.

I wouldn’t. My current construction project has around 1800 panels and they are all adjusted to an 8° angle from being flat. Not that I’m an expert, but with having any angle possible, they spec’d them to be only 8° (in Calgary).

Will our faithful government program replace halogen pot light bulbs with led's?
I'm wondering how the system has changed for upgrading lightbulbs. I've got 600W of halogens in my bathroom and I'd like to buy the ~40W of LEDs to replace them. The timing is ideal as two of them recently burned out.
I just want to submit a receipt and get munnay! They're $25 a pair on Amazon while replacement halogens are still about $12/pair.
I do not want some knob to come sniffing around my house measuring other shit.

Obvious answer but have you checked the website?

I couldn't see any sort bulb incentives at the moment. But usually it's instant rebate at the retailer level.

A friend of mine did the lightbulb thing. The government sent a guy over and swapped the bulbs for free. This was years ago now though, no idea what has changed?

I had checked but from the talk in this thread, a lot of things have changed in the program. It looks like it still requires a knob to come over and I think you're right that the bulbs are now supposed to be cheaper in stores to incorporate some sort of incentive at that level.
    Bummer.

Hmm how did you get $100? Pretty sure they decreased it to $75. I actually just got my cheque Monday for an ecobee and it was only $75

Don’t think they do the home visits any more. Wish they did considering I just moved into a new house and the previous owner put incandescents back in before he left. Fucker lol

People have been buying 2 of them, getting $200 in rebates, and returning 1 back. Or return both back and just make $200.
I have no idea what your talking about..... who would do such a thing...#asians

Speaking of which, I should install my Lyric sometime. I'm no handy-man so been waiting till after winter to install. Don't wanna fubar it and have no furnace in winter.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

I bought it Boxing Day 2017 so I assume they go by the receipt date and maybe it was still $100 then.

    They have neither right now.

With the bulb change program they won't change halogens or pots. Just standard incandescent bulbs.

At the store level if they have any rebates it is usually stated as a efficiency alberta rebate.

You'll have to check the website every few weeks. If any of those "incentives" are running they will have it on there.

Just installed two down here and it's so easy a caveman can do it. And that included me having to bypass control modules on the furnaces that turned the 5 wire system into 2 wire to the thermostat.

Ya there are no incentives right now for bulbs. When they did run, it was only for in store and the in store prices for PAR LED bulbs were so high that it still made more sense to buy them online. Not to mention the limited selection for short neck PAR bulbs that I needed.

That's bull shit but what can we expect. A halogen bulb has a coil that's heated to generate light almost exactly like an incandescent and more importantly, they're inefficient as Hell. They can be replaced with LED's that use about 90% less electricity!
Why would they not cover that?! I know the answer.

There are LED replacements for halogen fixtures? I've never noticed them on shelves yet (but wasn't specifically looking).

Yes there are. They're not very prominent yet and easier to get online but here's one from Home Depot:

Look at this shitty story from CBC regarding new building code changes likely coming:
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/canad...ence-1.5092732

What kind of random number generator do they use for some of these stats?
"It's only 8% more to build a zero emissions building."
"Canada's construction industry consumes 40% of our overall energy."

There you go, it's written down. Now it's facts!
These numbers seem orders of magnitude out of whack to me.

Well, it helps in inflating house prices again?
