Why are these pigeons white?

Am I ridiculous for thinking someone might own these? Is it common for them to be almost completely white? They've been sitting above my garage the entire day, they haven't even moved, I don't know how many days they were there before I even noticed them.

You're a very lucky guy as those two are of the very rare (around here) Alaskan Tundra Pigeon variety. Keep some feed and water out for them as the snow cover in some parts of the city makes for slim pickings for them.

I spotted a flock of these guys (probably 20 or so) earlier this week around Strathcona. I initially though dove's because of the color, but they flew and looked like pigeons.

Guess Speedog answered the question.

My suggestion;

Instructions


-Preheat your oven to 500°F

- While the oven is preheating, take the shit hawk out of the
fridge and pat them dry. Coat with lard, olive oil or butter
and salt generously. Set aside at room temperature while
the oven heats.

-When the oven is hot, get a small roasting pan or cast-iron
frying pan and set the winged rat in it. They will want to tip
over, so steady them with cut pieces of the celery stick. Try
to prevent the diarrhea beast from touching each other to
speed the cooking process.

-Roast the tyson chicken in the oven for 10 to 18 minutes.
The lower end of the spectrum will give you poop troopers
that are juicy, succulent and a little pink on the inside --
but pale. The higher end of the spectrum will give you a
fully cooked, browner squirt bird, but one that is at the
edge of being dry. Your choice.

You're not crazy. Feral pigeons, domesticated pigeons, white pigeons, rock doves, they're all the same species.

To be fair to Mar, they could indeed be someone's pets, I'm sure in a city the size of Calgary there's got to be a few pigeon fanciers that let their birds roam at will.

They were gone when I went to work this morning but back again when I got home. Then I went to hockey and came home, they're still there. I might throw some seed down tomorrow to check if they're banded.

On a more serious note, there can be led pigeons that are white or mostly white but they are not the norm. Same goes for pinkish rust colored pigeons.
