A former Connecticut special education teacher accused of having sex with her 18-year-old student because she wasn’t getting any action at home, slept with at least three other pupils, police said.
Laura Ramos, 31, a married mother of a young child, was placed on administrative leave at Central High School in Bridgeport amid allegations of having sex with the 18-year-old.
The Milford woman was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and released on $50,000 bond.
Police said they have information about at least two additional victims, the paper reported.
“My client voluntarily surrendered to police and we are awaiting the paperwork indicating the basis for the new charges,” said Ramos’ lawyer, Edward Gavin. “Laura Ramos continues to maintain her innocence and we look forward to the progression of the case.”
Ramos resigned after her first arrest and has been awaiting trial on a charge of second-degree sexual assault.
Unlike her first arraignment, when she and her husband held hands while she waited for her case to be called, this time Ramos sat alone at the Golden Hill Street courtroom.
Superior Court Judge William Holden issued Ramos an order barring her from contacting her alleged victims. He continued the case to Aug. 14.
After her first arrest, Ramos admitted having sex with the 18-year-old special ed student “a handful of times,” beginning Dec. 23, 2016, until April 2017.
She said most of the time they had sex in her car.
A second special education student admitted on June 23 that he had also had sex with Ramos, police said.
He said in he had gone with Ramos to a Fairfield restaurant and that after dinner, the two had sex in Ramos’ car in the parking lot, police said.
On another occasion in April, Ramos complained to the student that her husband didn’t want to have sex with her and then took him to a Shelton eatery.
While there, Ramos and her student went into the restaurant’s “electrical room,” where they had sex, police said.
The student told police he later received a text from Ramos saying it was the best sex she had ever had.

An Alabama judge ruled Friday that a state law banning teachers from having sex with students was unconstitutional, dismissing charges against two school employees accused of doing just that.
Judge Glenn Thompson dismissed charges against 44-year-old former high school teacher Carrie Witt and 27-year-old former aide David Solomon, who worked at different schools. Witt was accused of sleeping with an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, and Solomon faced charges of having sex with a 17-year-old, according to local news reports.
A teacher having sex with a student is a Class B felony under current state law, carrying a sentence of up to 20 years and fines of up to $30,000.
But Thompson agreed with the pair’s lawyers who argued that the law violated the 14th amendment — which was added after the U.S. civil war to ensure former slaves were treated equally under the law — as it treats educators differently than other citizens, al.com reported. The age of consent in Alabama is 16.

Show QuoteHate to bring reality into this thread, but it will never be legal in the future. The issue isn't necessarily the age, but the power dynamic. Most NCAA schools have similar policies (albeit not laws) that prohibit coaches and athletes being in relationships because the coaches have the power to withdraw their scholarships, thus it becomes a 'fuck me or lose your scholarship' scenario. Similarly, when it's a teacher, babysitter or tutor, the same scenario comes into play.
The fact of the matter is, if the kid is 18, the he's basically graduating anyway. Once they're graduated, it's not even a problem anymore. Unless they're needing the pipe that badly in which case, I offer a simple solution...

A former middle school gym teacher was arrested Monday for a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Monday.
Shawnetta D. Reece, 40, of Blairsville, was sexually involved with the student in 2013, the agency said in a news release.
Reece was arrested after the Union County Sheriff’s Office received information on the alleged relationship, and asked the GBI to assist with the investigation.
“The student was moving from the 8th grade into the 9th grade during this time,” the news release stated. “As a result of the investigation, Reece has been arrested for child molestation and sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority.”
Officials said once the investigation is completed, the case will be presented to the Enotah Judicial Circuit district attorney for prosecution.
