That story is all kinds of fucked up. So some jealous "buddy" of the "victim" narcs this teacher out to the cops. But the kid didn't even know her name, so seems like it probably wasn't his substitute teacher, just a chick that happened to teach at the same school. And she gets charged with sexual assault, despite it being consensual.

Whats the age of consent in Canada? im assuming it varies by province.

For example in NZ where I lived for years until my mid 20s it was, and still is 16, so any 16 year olds that wanted to have relationships with anyone 16 or older could and it wasn't considered a bad thing or sex with a minor and all this other stuff, im sure a 16 year old having sex with her / his teacher would be considered looked down on though.

I see that age of consent is 17 in Texas - so there are probably stories out there of 17 year old high school students having relations with teachers or anyone older than 17 and it not being a big deal.

Alberta has some wierd laws to.

Minimum age of consent is 12 as long as the partner is only within 2 years older and not in a position of authority and its not exploitative

Then for 14 or 15 year olds they can have sex with people up to 5 years older and not in a position of authority and its not exploitative

Anyone 18 or older can have it within anyone older.

So its totally ok for a 14 year old and a 19 year old to be doing it consensually.
