Default Mountain Equipment Co-op to stop selling Vista Outdoor products

I'm not sure if a or is more appropriate here.

TL;DR MEC is no longer selling products from any company who is affiliated with one that makes bullets. The ones that will save your life in the wild.

In terms of "social licence", it seems like manufacturers of weapons should be feeling more pressure than energy companies.

Sure guns can be useful tools, but to a much smaller segment of the population than that which benefits from petroleum.

Is this meaningful and is it the start of something larger? I truly don't know.

"Vista also manufactures and sell guns and ammunition, including hunting rifles under brand names such as Savage, as well as Fox."

Linked article: "More than 40,000 people have signed a petition calling on MEC to stop selling brands like Camelbak and Giro, which are owned by Vista Outdoor Inc. The company also makes guns, including semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15."

I don't care either way, but your TLR is wrong

My mistake. The previous version of the article didn't mention guns, just ammunition.

Unless you're down wind from the bear. Then you're just seasoning his dinner.

Edit: But for clarity, I'm not speaking solely about self-defense.

I like this article as a response http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/b...ctor-1.4556846

He noted Honeywell and General Electric are household names that manufacture missiles, "and yet people aren't calling to boycott those companies and those products."

"This call for a boycott because of political reasons is perhaps a little misguided."

I would dare say that every one of these more than 40,000 people have something in their life that was created by a company that can be linked back to an arms and/or munitions manufacturer. Hipocrites. It likes being against oil but wearing or using anything made from a plastic or pumping your chest bcause you're buying "green energy" when in fact the energy that goes into my home is as green as the stuff that goes into their homes.
    Will fuck off, again.

As businesses are consolidated all over the world to the few owners, if you participate in our economy, you will have blood on your hands.
