    Sorry if it's a repost.
Article is nothing but an eastern swipe at Calgarians. I have to agree about the part about untrustworthy polling. Advanced polls are not only useless but totally misleading.

Well this beyond poll certainly didn't reflect the real thing.
Nope. Close, but not close enough. I personally thought Nenshi was going to win, but a tighter result than what we saw.

    So same council.

Curious how many times that has happened in Calgary's history.

I think I like Nenshi even less now than I did 24 hours ago. This morning he seems smug to the point of being out of touch with reality. Is he not humbled by the fact that 49% of Calgary voted for someone else? Okay, 5% of that is wasted votes (Chabot, Heather, etc.) but the other contender took 44%. This morning Nenshi's interviews are that of a guy that won an overwhelming majority and sorry bud, that's just not the case.

Agreed. I has the slightest hope that these results would have humbled him but based on his on camera crap last night we’re screwed…. I bet he’s more arrogant and cocky then before the election.

I support most of Nenshi's policies but he really needs to get his ego in check if he's truly going to relate to the public like he claims he does. On Global last night, someone who was a "close friend" of Nenshi was questioned on his arrogance, ego, temper etc and she was completely bewildered by these comments stating that he's almost the complete opposite.

Almost spit all over my monitor.

    ---

This election has been pretty funny looking back. So much emotion, high voter turn-out, voting disaster only to result in absolutely nothing changing.

I feel the same way. I say let him be smug and more arrogant. More people are catching on and getting tired of his antics. Hopefully by next election there will be a better candidate running against him.

I thought he was gonna win too and I also thought it'd be closer, but I had hoped this would have humbled him.

Yea, it was entertaining while it lasted. It's like an entertaining movie with a boring ending, like the complete opposite of a M. Night Shyamalan movie.

Apparently academics all has been calling out Mainstreet/Post media poll as unscientific. And I think Greenline poll when totally the other way.

    Oh Calgary...

Well enjoy the next 4 years of tax and utility hikes, suburb shaming and arrogant tweets, lol. I look forward to the next great art fiasco!
Farkas and others with ties to UCP/Mannning Centre will make sure Nenshi on the losing side on most votes. It was hard enough for him to get 8 votes on anything with last council, it's will worse now. Nenshi is basically a lame duck now.

I doubt that his supporters will either care or change. It’s pretty clear that a lot of his supporters feel that it’s completely ok to denigrate/ridicule or shame people for expressing or even having a different view than they do. Nenshi basically saying fuck you I’m not changing to everyone who didn’t vote for him in his speech is just going to cement that attitude in people’s minds.

It seems that it’s not enough for them to celebrate that Nenshi won, it has to be done by gloating and trying to keep dragging other people through the mud. It’s not “Nenshi won, that’s awesome”, it’s “sensible/smart/intelligent people beat the retards/vapid populists who didn’t support our side, now let’s try to slag Smith or journalists who don’t agree with us some more”.

I was at their arena over the summer they deserve a team for sure, it’s amazing. I wouldn’t feel bad about losing the flames to them.

Really is it that bad? I gotta go watch some of these speeches at lunch.

I'd be shocked if he ran again. Move on to Provincial or Federal me thinks.

What really concerns me is that there is little or no tolerance for opposite views. If you don't support Nenshi you are a Rick Bell, of low intelligence, uninformed, racist, etc. There's basically zero respect for opinions that are contrary to his supporters. It's a dangerous slope as that's the kind of divisive groupthink that fuels the extreme groups like bigots and racists.
