I don't plan on buying out the lease on my GTI. Mostly because:
1) I don't want to deal with trying to flip it and have finances tied up in it.
2) At this point, I'm planning on leasing another car. Either another GTI, a Golf R, or an S3.

If anyone is looking for a good deal on an RC-F or a GLA45, let me know. That E63S is really tempting right now haha.
Signature..... I ate it!!
So is your intention to just return it? Trade it in and have them write you a check for the equity difference?Originally posted by LilDrunkenSmurf

No idea. First time I've ever leased a car, instead of buying something used.
AFAIK, I just drop it off at the end of the lease, they make sure it's solid, and then try to convince me to lease something else.

They offered me within $1000 of similar trucks on Kijiji. Worth not dealing with the hassle.Originally posted by vtec4life

I'm not laughing at you, just that you did exactly what the OP is trying to get people to avoid. I understand most of the time not worth the hassle.
First thing to do is look at your lease agreement and see what the residual value is. If you have equity in the vehicle it is worth looking into trading it in on the lease but getting them you write you a check for the difference instead of putting it as a downpayment on the new lease.Originally posted by LilDrunkenSmurf

To the people who sold their lease instead of returning it, how does the process go?
Do you put it up for sale first then have the buyer cut two cheques and walk to the dealership together?
Or do you buy it out first then just put it up for sale after?
What if you want to do a lease takeover? I leased a Jetta to get around in as a winter daily in November. Now I have been transferred to site for the next 18 months and do not need it.
It only has 4,200kms on it and a sub $300 monthly payment, is leasebusters the best option for that?
Try kijiji first. It might be painful dealing with the crowd that know nothing about how a lease works, but it's free. At a sub $300 payment you may get lucky and get it transferred quickly especially with the low kms.Originally posted by mrsingh

Im always looking for inventory guys so if anyone has a lease coming due and was planning to just return it I may be able to help you pull a little bit of equity out of it. Mutual benefit right there
