bah, we have something in our garden. grass is fine. Anyone use the smoke bombs? too lazy to read through the whole thread.
I use smoke bombs for under the driveway and steps and stuff. Smoke goes in, presumably kills voles, have no way of verifying

    @hurrdurr
Likely, but I don't see as much shit as I'd expect. I only see a little in the last picture.
These things shit an inconceivable amount

What are you guys baiting your traps with?

I caught 1 on peanut butter but over a dozen traps and 2-3 weeks it doesn’t seem to be doing nearly good enough of a job attracting them?

Peanut butter. Or the sticky pads in my box traps.
@hurrdurr I would bet mice. That’s what I have to deal with in my yard, and the holes they dig look like that.

    Tally after 2 weeks

    3/12 snap
    0/4 glue

Couple of misses on the snaps when placed on unleveled grass. Also patched trenches with dirt and seed. The voles are thinking: Idiots, why risk on the peanut butter when there's a grass seed buffet.

    Do I have Voles?
Look like ground squirrel holes like the ones I have.

Been trying to get rid of the fuckers on my property for the past 2 weeks. Haven't had much success, but nailed one of the smaller ones with a slingshot and it was satisfying af.

I just stocked up on a grip of shit at Canadian tire.

Will update in the coming weeks if any of it worked.

I've had bad vole problems the last 2 winters now. Never saw this thread before. At the start of thread it sounded like one person had great results with the ultrasonic deterrents. But nobody else really got on board. I figure will try them this year in the fall. Not sure exactly what to do? They piss off in the spring summer if you have a dog or other activity out in the yard frequently. So I feel like setting traps is a waste of time. And once they're in full action again when the snow cover is back, where do I even place traps at that point? Their travel paths are all under the snow.

Got another 1.5 today, and considering the half I got I am comfortable rounding up to 2 on that one. So 3 total this spring.

I find it way too entertaining that something made off with half a vole haha.

As for “why bother with traps” where do you think they are going?

Any dent I can make in the population is a success in my books.

A few holes in the yard. Gaps under fences so they can dig their way in or out.
Plugged some holes and used one smoke bomb. Laid 6 traps, 3 with crackers and 3 with Fatso as bail. Will keep my Havanese from going to the backyard while the traps are engaged. Let see what we get.

2 days with the glue trap earlier this week got nothing.

We run a pretty "live and let live" lifestyle in my yard, so probably not taking any action. However, just saw a mouse in my yard.

Only a matter of time and the little pricks will have taken over your entire property.

    I've been here 11 years, that's not mouse #1.

You’re right, it’s probably mouse 32 they just take turns on who is going to come out at a given time to keep you unaware of their master plans.

Just put out some big ass rat traps with a Ritz and peanut butter. Well see if they work. They burrowed under my front porch fucking up the grass that took so long to actually look good. Motherfuckers.

Outdoor snap trap + crunchy peanut butter comes through again. 2nd one caught outside this year, for a total of 3 in 2020.
