I decimated a vole with the lawn mower the other day. Felt pretty gratifying.

Has anyone used these traps with success?

I bought a ton of those. I caught 3 with them in a month, I put them away after that because I had surgery and couldn’t check them. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Very deadly, but I found that often enough the bait was getting eaten without them going off so maybe not crazy sensitive.
Just put out a ton of them.

Found a bunch of holes and tracks around our yard and neighbours. Put some dog pop down some of the holes. We still have a smoke bomb left. In the summer laid traps but didn’t catch anything.
I bought it end of July to complement my multi-catch trap. Had great success; in a month I caught 19. I actually gave it a review https://www.amazon.ca/gp/customer-re...SIN=B086W7K275.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Haha coincidentally your review was one of the few I read before purchasing them. Will report back with how many I catch..This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Your comment RE ants and slugs ate the peanut butter. It was the EXACT reason why I had to put the traps away for the summer. I mixed in some borax with the PB and that kept the ants away, but then the slugs took over. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
With winter coming up, I'm looking for preventive measures before the snow covers form. I'm planning on spraying the perimeter with cayenne pepper water. Anyone else have better ideas?
I use the same traps. Caught another little guy last week. I just leave the traps without bait on their path. The traps have pretty good spring action, don't want my fingers to get caught for sure.
Keeping snow away from potential nesting space will help, I don't think they like to move around exposed to predators.
Got another one today. Well 1/3, something ate the rest so flawless victory?
I've used plantskydd from online research https://www.plantskydd.com/ but no success, maybe I didn't incubate it long enough but it smelled real bad. What I will try this year is when it snows and accumulate, I will stomp on the snow at edge of grass to compress it, once it gets cold, it'll create an ice barrier that the voles can't chew through - I found this suggestion online. I can see the theory behind it since the voles go nuts on the grass under the snow as it provides an insulation but with ice, no go.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Caught another one this morning, business is booming.
I had these buggers dig 5 holes in my fresh new grass I grew this year along my walkway last week. First action I saw in 4+ months. I assume I caught one but I'm not entirely sure as the trap went missing. We have lot's of birds around my place so the current theory is one got caught in the trap and a bird wanted a peanut butter coated vole for breakfast and took the vole and trap with him. Either way I'm taking it as a victory.
It's definitely a bird that took your trap and vole, likely magpie. I watched one pick up my snap trap along with vole, it lifted it up but trap fell back down. It resorted to pecking the dead vole and ripping the guts out making a mess. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Make sure you guys cut your lawn down nice and tight before the snow comes, I've found that helps as well.
For those that have been successful with traps. Is this placement enough? have a bunch of runs below the fence to my neighbours yard, figured if they go back and forth this should catch em?

That’s more or less what I do. Got a few more after my last post. I even put a few right against the wall. Set it and forget it.
I usually place them parallel to the fence... but yea solid reminder I need to get some traps out. I'm sure they're plotting how much lawn they're going to destroy this winter.
Is fall/winter transition a good time to kill these fucks?
