For those of you using the steel live traps, how are you killing them afterwards?
I’d like to put a couple of these out in the yard

They are usually dead by the time I check the trap, from blood loss or other injuries like my last guy being caught at the head. I only had one guy that's still alive. It was still trying to crawl back to the hole. A whack took care of it.

I may not need an AR15 to kill a deer, but it’s sure a satisfying kill on a Vole.

I loved the electronic taser traps in the mouse ridden basement.

Betcha they'd do good on voles. They're cheap too...

I assume you're talking about the one I posted; I put the glue boards in and by the time I check the trap every day or two, whatever's in there is dead

One time there was one running around in there, just left him another day and he was good to go in the trash by the time I returned.

I've reached 5 dead mice and now nothing, dunno if that's a good thing or not, 3 with normal traps and 2 with the electric

That was me last year. Caught 5-6 in the first few weeks then 1 a month till winter hit. (Snap traps with crunchy peanut butter)

I'd say you're on the right path

I want to seal the holes but concerned about trapping them inside and them burrowing further or making new holes, is there anyway to tell if they’re gone other than looking for droppings?

Droppings and sign. Could be tracks in the grass or new holes, eating bait, etc. There is no way to know 100%, i never saw any during the day at my place

I had the same problem where mice got into our house from under our stamped concrete patio.
I ended up sealing the holes, in or out didn’t matter at that point. Then we used peregrine pest control and had them put in the strong ass 24hour poison and all signs of mice were gone in a week inside the house. Haven’t seen them since *knock on wood*
I’ve since built up around the patio using 6” of gravel around the entire base, put down top soil and have re-seeded grass.
It’s usually The fall we start seeing burrowing.
In the meantime I’ll be putting two steel traps like CJblair posted outside.
I’ve also created a perimeter using bobcat urine.

    I hate mice so much.

I posted a link to the victor one I have in a previous post, there's a few, I didn't need the app notification though so went with the cheaper one that simply flashes when it has a kill

Are there any that can sent notifications to the google nest or Apple home kit ecosystems? Does Roomba make a self-emptying one? I heard Dyson has one coming out next year.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I used the victor one in the house, killed two mice in it within 24hrs. Poison took care of the rest.
