Default Mother Of All Bombs dropped.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/u-s-dro...stan-1.4069637

On ISIS "intricate cave network" or that's the news story anyhow. Largest non-nuclear bomb ever produced. I can imagine NATO will be billed accordingly.

Funny thing is when I first heard about ISIS a decade ago, I thought it was some sort of rock band.

Didn't someone use a Tomahawk cruise missile (~$1.4M USD a pop) to shoot down a (civilian) drone recently? Seems they don't really care about the money haha. At some point they probably just want to get a little bit of use out of all the stuff they've paid for. They also use Hellfire missiles (~$110K USD a pop) regularly to kill single individuals.

The cruise missle attack on the airport:

If the US did not manage to take out a few planes I think they made a massive mistake.

Military airports can be made with a thicker version of what they use for aircraft carriers - that means a thin sheet of metal that is surprisingly durable underneath maybe a couple layers of something similar to asphalt.

They might have already repaired it by rolling out the ashphalt repair truck.

But, gotta spend money to bill someone else I guess - Kanye.

Would prefer if they used "mother of all bombs deploys you!"

Yeah, but the tomahawks did what they were designed to did. This MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Blast) wasn't designed for caves or bunker busting underground tunnels. Just seems like a waste.

Pretty sure it is designed to use the over-pressure created upon detonation to collapse caves and tunnels.

    Ya............No.
I'm not even going to bother googling why that's incorrect.

F22 raptor unit cost is half that. 1 conventional bomb worth more than 2 F22s? Seems legit.

It's already developed and built - like I said - probably was about to pass its expiry date, 11kt of HE probably isn't cheap to dispose of... (But I was wrong on the date, 2003ish build not 2001). Using it was likely cheaper than disposing of it.

Even the Canadian TV channels have the video, google it. They should drop 69 of these instead of wasting expensive cruise missiles.
