Default Tyrannical Dairy Board of Canada.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trud...rump-1.4077625

Trump hit it right on the head again. This is the exact same thing I would do - if I were in power.

If you want to talk about totally messed up trade systems, you only need look at the Canadian dairy board. Police officers smuggling cheese across the border totally underlined the issue.

But I think Trump underestimates French Canadians and their love of cheese.

Everything imported into Canada should have a 277% tariff, just like cheese!

I didn't even know about the Canadian dairy industry trade protection until my first trip to Europe. Like any other d-bag, cheese platter and wine for lunch with friends on my first trip, and was blown away. Not even a fancy place, just whatever random place that had a table out, and the cheese was out of this world. I never ate much cheese before (aside from Cheese Whiz or Kraft singles lol) but every time I travel to Europe I make an effort to eat as much cheese as possible and it's a fraction of prices we pay here. Come back to Canada, tried to get imported cheese, barely exists. Only some imports, and it's jacked up to shit in price. That's my first time learning about the cartel.

Second time, the CEO of Hublot has his own ranch and makes his own cheese, and for repeat customers is happy to send a wheel of his cheese. You can't buy this shit anywhere, the yearly supply just goes to customers. For me, he couldn't send it to here because he would have to register to be a Canadian cheese importer to ship cheese to Canada. They only dish out something like 4 licenses a year and of course a million % tariffs.

Good to see Trump bash our stupid Dairy cartel.

How do you think Pizza 73 was so cheap for a couple of years? They imported pre-packaged cheese and pepperoni shrink wrapped packages from the US as it was classified as food preparations and not dairy. Once CBSA clamped down and reclassified it as dairy, it was game over.

US consumers was pissed over it, it spiked up their mozzarella prices.

Wow. Now I know why most pizza places in Canada are so chintzy with cheese. It's kind of crazy how the dairy and chicken industries have been allowed to operate like this.

Kind of moronic for him to bash them though isn't it? Isnt this EXACTLY the kind of thing he proposed to do to fund the wall?

Yeah, but it's only good when it benefits America. That is what Americans hired him to do. Fix America, and fuck the everyone else.

I think the idea is: Fix America first, then let the dollars trickle down to the other countries a few decades later, if there is anything left.

That being said, I wouldn't mind trying some of that 2.9 Billion pounds of Wisconsin cheese - never had a taste. Its crazy that I can be on the same continent that produces that much cheese and never even so much as had an ounce of it. Mind you - I'm still a little leery that it might be slightly radioactive.

I don't know why it's controversial that a politician is only concerned about the welfare of his constituents?

Trump isn't president of the planet, just a little piece of it.

The thing is the US is a prime example of how trickle down economics in practice is a bad idea. The lower class (in this case countries) always get screwed. Eventually the top's balloon bursts and we start over again.

Country leaders need to realize that especially in this day and age where we can access the world from the comforts of our home that the world is a tiny place. If a few are out for nothing but their own interests on average everyone does worse.

That is a business 101 excercise....

This is exactly why Trump won the election. The working class got tired of seeing jobs leave the country. He's doing exactly what they wanted him to which is to bring back jobs to America.

I believe the dairy and wheat boards in Canada are influenced almost solely by British interests. Sort of like how tea was traded in the US back before they gained independence.

Now I can complain, and Trump can complain too. But to be honest I can't think of a way to even approach the problem (to some, especially the rich dairy farmers and Galen Weston, its not considered a problem at all)

Galen Weston would fucking LOVE to break that dairy cartel. Cheaper cheeses would mean big profits for him.

Conspiracy theory: Galen Weston has always been a part of the cartel. Its for sure that the Westons are part of the grain/bread British monopoly.

You can make money by either joining it, or jacking up prices in spite of it. If you can maintain the illusion of set prices, you can always charge more.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...s_by_net_worth

Its not like he needs more food cartel money. People who come to Canada often marvel at how there are no cheese stores, and only half a refridgerator of dairy products. That and at the crazy prices of course.

< Small (for Wisconsin) family owned company that still produces 3.5 ton cheese wheels.
