Does anyone have a way of checking VINs ie carfax?

So I testdrove a CRX today which seems alright. The guy and the car seem a little sketchy so I want to check the VIN. Otherwise, the car is cheap and is in good condition. But it's riced out, I'll need to get rid of a lot of ricey crap on it.

This is the VIN, if anyone can check it for me that would be great.

well the car seems in decent condition, the brakes are shitty and the alignment is off tho

I don't have a carfax account, but it says there's 2 records under this VIN. But I can't find out cuz I don't suscribe to it.
its an 89 CRX Si right?

I remember someone with a carfax account saying that 2 records means theres nothing out of the ordinary. I think every car has 2 records according to carfax: 1. Arrival at port, 2. Ownership/Title change or something like that.

yea coo I want those painted brake drums... I have el cheapo single piston rear brake....

if i had brakes drums i'd tried to keep them out of sight as much as possible.... lol

2 records on car fax is usually nothing. mostly stuff that kenny mentioned. Try to find a crx that's stock. Owners of modded cars usually ask for more than the car is worth (I'd do the same).

agh, how come everyone is saying that this a ripoff? ive been looking at tons of crxes, and this is one of the only ones ive come across that is in good condition and isnt rusted to shiet...i honestly havent seen a decent 90-91 go for under 6000.

actually the guy wanted 8000 for it, and i think i can get it down to 6000. do u guys honestly think 6000 is too much to pay?

...and ahn, if i do end up buying this car, is there any way that i can have a couple parts from your crx? i just need the stock gauges, cuz theres ugly ass APC gauges installed in this crx right now

But I don't think $6K is worth it, but you've been looking for a CRX for awhile so go by your own judgement

Oh geez, I AM getting desperate for a car now.

Oh well, I'm glad that the 2 records on carfax don't mean much. But I will try to get the guy to pay for an inspection. I wouldn't buy a car like this without one. I dunno, maybe $6000 is too much. Maybe I'll keep looking..

Hey Jeff,

My buddy is selling his 89(i think) CRX, it's red, the body is in pretty good shape. The whole front end is new(very minor accident) has around 250,000 km(maybe less). I know it needs new shocks and CV joints. Has 15" american racing rims. There is damage to the rear trunk lid, sombody ripped off his spoiler. He's asking $4500obo.

Jeff.....I'd honestly pay like $3500 at the very most for that car. Trust me, patience is key. I looked around for over a year, and finally found my car. '91, 157k at the time with a lil tiny bit of rust. All for $5800 back in Nov/2000. So don't pay more than that for any CRX's.

If you can help me find JDM gauges, you can have mine for cheap!

I have a couple more parts I'm gonna sell once I get my car running, so let me know what you want when the time comes!

When my friend purchased his CRX, 3 years ago, they were in the 5000 dollar range . But its outrageous to pay 6-8k for a crx like that man! Keep looking, save your $$, or consider another car.
