A few very bad crashes from years gone by...

Geoff Bodine from 2000, he survived and continued to race...

Michael Waltrip from 1990, survived and continued racing, wasn't even hospitalized...

Mike Harmon from 2002, actually unbuckled himself and stepped out of what remained of his car...

Elliot Sadler from 2003, walked away...

Michael McDowell from 2008, walked away after 8 barrel rolls...

If anyone is interested in seeing what NASCAR is about, tonight's race at Bristol would probably be a good race to watch.

Three races left to get into the playoffs, things will get heated tonight.

On another note, between last season and this season there sure is a changing of the guard. Gordon, Stewart and Edwards gone last year. This year Earnhardt is retiring, Kenseth and Newman do not have guaranteed rides for next season. Kurt Busch isn't signed for next season either. But when you've got young guns like Larson pulling off last lap moves to win a race like he did last weekend, the sport is still in good hands.

So drivers without rides for next year - Kenseth, Newman, Kurt Busch, Patrick, Almirola, Kahne. Not enough open rides to accommodate all of them which means Patrick is probably done in the big leagues.

Talledega at noon Mountain, only one more race after this for a chance to advance to the round of 8 playoffs with only two drivers locked in so far - should be entertaining.

I was watching a bit of this yesterday.
What was the end result of the crash and drivers heading into the pit lane? Put light was red or something?

There's a light at the pit road entrance that indicates whether it's open or closed. The cars that came onto pit road after it had been closed could have drove through without stopping and not been penalized, but because they stopped for fuel and tires they had to restart at the tail end of the field. The cars that were already on pit road before it was closed were allowed to pit and continue without penalty.

I love Nascar. Not so much for the racing, but for how it is more of a chess game, won or lost in the pits and fuel/car management. The whole race is strategy, and the race is more of a side attraction.
I'm fascinated by how the drivers (who aren't always teammates) interact with one another in terms of drafting and everything.

Or use the nose of their car to change how the air flows over the car just ahead of them so they can slow that car down and make a pass.

So Almirola stays in the Ford fold but moves over to Stewart/Haas from RPM - it will be interesting to see what he can do what with should be better equipment.

Watching them overheat from being stuck in traffic was hilarious. NASCAR causing havoc on LV Blvd right now because they’re doing donuts there haha.

Was cool to see them all parked last night up close outside the Knights game. They’re smaller than I remember.

And they're back. It's perfect timing, NASCAR season flows into CFL's season which flows into NFL's season which flows into NASCAR's season.

Daytona 500 tomorrow. Today's race (Xfinity Cup, kind of like a NASCAR minor league) was pretty entertaining, up until all the crashes at the end.

I thought three car wide was crazy. I don't know how they are holding it on the banks.
Hamlin overshot the pit but still got his ass pinched the marshalls. I was wondering why then I saw the replay.

The driver head camera is nuts.
