Default Fence post digging and setting cost?

How much should I pay for someone to come dig and set my fence posts? What's a reasonable per post cost?

I'm planning on doing the rest, I just don't have the strength or energy or will to the posts anymore....just want someone to set up all my posts.

well, there are still some variables.

    How many fence posts?

When I do a fence, I call out a skid steer operator with a 9" or 12" hydraulic auger on it, and depending, the cheapest he does it for is a $250 flat rate for 25 holes or less, for every hole over 25, it is an extra $10. There may be additional fees on top of that depending on the situation.

And that is just to dig the holes, nothing more.

Add in the time to finish cleaning out the holes, set the posts, cement them in and then brace them to keep them plumb...so figure an hourly rate there of say $20-25 an hour, and probably times that by 2 people, as mixing concrete is a pain, and trying to brace a post plumb on your own sucks.

Thanks...ya at our old house I believe we paid about $25 a hole, and we all did the labor and took an afternoon to set holes for 3 houses (we were all neighbors)...

But thanks for the $20-25 labor rate good to know.

It was hard labor lol I'm definitely going to pay someone this time to do that part...

Make sure you measure and mark the hole correctly. But the $10/hole is a deal.

    Should be able to find $10 a hole no prob ($10 $125 min - $10 $180 min)

it might be tough to find guys to just do posts, but if you ask your bobcat guy they might know people or being willing to take on the job for an hourly rate if they have a concrete mixer and pal to work with them

Call One call and like stated above, try and be very close with your hole marking to make things go faster when setting the posts..

Kijiji is your best friend for this shit

For reference – We just got a new place a couple years ago & needed the landscaper to add 3 extra posts. They billed us at $75/ea for digging, the steel rods & concrete.

$10/hole seems like a solid price if you're doing the concrete setting yourself though.

I can live with $75 to have the concrete done too because honestly I'd have to research how to do it myself...

Do you remember the name of the company??

You have to research how to dig a hole, mix concrete, and level/set a post but you are going to build the rest of the fence yourself? Seems odd.

Here is some costs for you:
    http://www.kijiji.ca/v-fence-deck-ra...ationFlag=true

Post setting labour (post, cement and/or other material yours, we work with post haste cement only)
    $10 for 4*4 posts
    $15 for 4*6 posts
    $20 for 6*6 posts
Minimum charge for post setting is $120

I know how to measure, cut, and screw in wood lol...I did all that at my old house, my neighbors did the setting of the posts and the cement...I guess now that I think about it it doesn't look complicated, buy I'd still rather have someone do that part, I want to do as little labor as possible

Plotting and setting the posts is permanent and I don't trust myself to do it right.

    Its pretty damn easy.

I'm not handy and we set a couple dozen posts no problem.

We just rented an auger for like $60 and bored them out in no time flat... Not hard to do.

Sorry, didn’t see the reply here – I’m in Lethbridge now, so unfort prob not much help to you. The company was Dino’s Landscaping though.

We did this method where you set the steel pipes set into concrete & build the frame to look like a 4x4 around it.

    Depends on where you live.

My brothers place in Panorama had very rocky soil. Even with a bobcat auger it took about 4 houra longer than expected to do 32 holes. Doing with the rented auger could take ya forever if its not clean dirt.

I don't use a 1 or 2 man, or even a towable auger anymore. It is just too hard on my body. Too heavy, and lord help you if you hit a rock.

I just pay a bobcat to come in with a 12" auger. Saves me enough time and effort that it's a wash cost wise.
