Default Where to ask this?? Anyone with tractor connections? Lol!

Just having bought a small acreage in Water Valley, I am finding myself in need of a smaller acreage tractor and I was wondering if anyone on Beyond has any connections in this area? Not the usual mode of transportation here I know but it doesn't hurt to ask! Lol!

Looking ideally in the compact range (20hp and up) 4wd with a bucket and the pto ability to attach a mower, hoe and front mount snowblower. Used or maybe even new.

    Anyone?

I've got a co-worker in the area who also has extended family with farms there. I was going to stop by and talk to you today anyways, so I'll see what he has to say first.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Solid man, such a nice area. My aunty lived out there for a while, and a little further north, west of Elkton. Good luck on the tractor search

Really like that area, and hope it's everything you dream of, you've earned it.

Thanks guys! I grew up in small town surrounded by forest and mountains (and orchards) and have been itching to get back to the country ever since leaving it, but alas trying to run a tire business in small town means having to take on the aspects of the work I do not enjoy to make ends meet so I have always stuck it out in the cities.

This deal came up and it was way too good to pass up! It is 2.67 acres of woods with an old 1700sf house as well as a small guest cottage. The house is very cabin feeling and old (1971 with an addition in 1981) but it is super solid and will do us well for the next 5 to 10 years when I will hopefully be in a position to build new. For now a 30x30 shop will be the first construction project!

    Beautiful little piece of property!

While not exactly a "tractor", my parents have a bobcat that they are looking to sell, as they have recently upgraded. Has various attachments and whatnot as well. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you'd like to discuss more

If you're looking more for the John Deere sort of thing, small towns close by (Olds, Didsbury, Sundre) have many options to choose from... you'd just have to go see in person, as online presence isn't exactly a concern for most of those small shops.

Buy one that has a dealership nearby, as you will eventually need parts, and it's a bastard to have to drive two hours for small items.

Always worth looking at older slightly larger 2WD tractors too... When my parents bought their acreage we picked up a John Deere 750 for 1/4 of what some of these people wanted for newer units.

To this day the neighbours come over and borrow all the time as it actually can push a bit more etc. Watching some of these small tractors with blowers on them can be quite entertaining.

Lots of good cheap attachments as well, between hole diggers, harrows, seeders, snowblowers, etc you never know what you might need.

Definitely an option I am considering! My only issue is I don't know enough about them to make a confident decision. I am trying hard though!

Something like this is what I would really like, but I am having trouble swallowing a use price point of well above the 20k mark...

Congrats Bob! Hopefully this doesn't mean the tire shop will be relocating too

Really just depends on what you are expecting to do with it as to what size I would go for. If you are wanting to push a massive blower id be oversizing it.. But you loose the mobility and takes more space etc...

Based on your photos I'd look at something like a 855 range... Still a big bigger tires, still has 4wd, very capable but isn't going to blow the bank. And if you find that its overkill or too big you can always trade it in etc.

Again thats just my opinion, but id be buying a cheaper one and making sure its what you need before dropping big coin.

Visit your neighbours once you settle in, one probably has a spare stashed away for water valley pricing.

Oh and check at the general store - they had a bulletin board

    Checkout some auctions?

Here is one that I have attended a few times:

Looks like they have a few things that fits your bill coming up pretty soon
