This guy's a wreck, seriously. Glad he's okay.
Holy shit, he goes hard.
He’s fucking lucky that’s for sure. Only a fractured knee... jeez

This guy must have used up all his lives by now! Geez he's lucky, glad he's alright.
There's video out of the hill climb. Looks like he read the road incorrectly?

Looks like the back just gave up. May be he was just trying to correct it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
No, 100% driver error. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Clear case of braking way too late and going too fast for a corner (notice how the car slides almost to the left of the track in that 'right hander non corner'. at that point he'd be wanting to be hugging the very right side of the track to setup for that sharp left hander, not be drifting to the left of the track under panic braking). It happens, there is a slim chance it could be due to brake fade (again, that would be driver error IMO as there would be signs of brake fade prior to it making a difference) but imo he's not a great driver to begin with so it's likely he just missed his braking point. He's made many mistakes with situational awareness and seems to lose focus on what he's doing. Again, it can happen to anyone with a car like that. I wouldn't exactly be jumping for joy driving someone's latest shed built creation with retarded power balls out. There is another angle that maybe it lost brakes, but imo that is less likely than he just missed his braking point. It certainly doesn't seem like he had no brakes.
It's an AWD electric car with 4 motor generators and carbon brakes. Doubt there's fade but an ERS failure on any single wheel would completely fuck over the braking balance and cause you to lose it like that.

its not a brake balance problem. It's not a F1 car so even with a full ERS failure I'd be surprised if the brakes weren't strong enough to engage abs without additional drag from the ERS. Even with having a front caliper stop working you're just going to get a slight pull easily corrected by the steering wheel; you may not even notice a problem (i've been on a race track with only 1 front caliper working before and even braking from 170 to 60 it's a minor problem as far as handling goes. braking distance is sure extended, but it's perfectly driveable lap after lap as long as you still have other brakes working).
It's debatable if he lost braking power or braked too late, but one thing is certain. He was going off track before he hit that right hander no matter what he did because he was carrying way too much speed at that point.
The accident happened after the finish line too.
If you watch the Rimac CEO video with Richard, he blamed speed. Hammond was about 20-30km/h faster on that run vs previous 3 runs. He expected the torque vector to hold because he can't get it to understeer on previous tries. On that run, the rear broke free. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But according to beyonders speed is not a factor in collisions!?!?! Who would have thunkThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Glad to see him recovering so quickly. That must have been a scary crash
