So acquired most of the parts for this build... just down to the little things, chain, cables, shorter chainring bolts, etc... but one part I should have added to my Jenson order might be a little tricky...

Anyone know if one of the local shops would have these in stock? Or anyone have some kicking around? The originals on the bike were broken and I would like to run the cable for the derailleur this way vs zip ties

First parts order turned up... have to add 1 1/8” to 1 1/4” stem shim to the list as this threaded to threadless adaptor wasn’t what I expected... waiting on shifter before wrapping the other side of the bars

Yeah, I was getting that sort of vibe too haha, I really am liking this over grips... should also have enough wrap in this kit to redo it once too

UPS finally updated that they should be delivering the rest of the parts tomorrow, so should be able to finish it up this weekend... just in time for my new DT commute that I’m starting Tuesday

Hrm... so dropped the chain twice on the way to work, noticed my bike lock had slipped and was touching the chain, so tossed the lock in my bag in the way home and dropped it 3 times on the way home! Twice in a row in the lowest gear climbing sandy beach hill... then once in the second highest on the flats... think I might need a narrow wide chain ring. Screwed around with tweaking the derailleur as best I could prior to this ride so not sure what else I could do... damn 1x

Yes, get a narrow wide chain ring. That should fix all your problems. 1x without narrow wide is unreliable unless you are running something else on the front to prevent it from jumping off the chainring.

Seemed better today, chainring bolts were creaking so I tightened them, may have been part of the issue... will monitor

Not a huge fan of the tires on this bike though... slipped out on me going down sandy beach hill (rear locked up) ...that was a fun start to the day

I do most of my own simple bike maintenance (tires, chain, brakes, cassette, indexing), but some things I'm shit at or don't care to learn - wheel truing, hub/bottom bracket bearing overhauls, etc. Any shop recommendations for road/gravel bike servicing for these types of things? LBS vs dedicated mechanic?

I've not done any bearing overhauls, but I brought in one of my winter wheels for truing to Bike and Brew when I was picking up a new bike there. A minor true is $14.95 and a major is $29.95.

Meh - don't pay for truing. It is super easy. Google DIY truing stands, I built one on my work bench with an old Thule wheel carrier.

i heard most bike shops are having their biggest months ever... exercise is good!
Yeah I called a couple shops, 1-2 month wait times to get a tuneup. Ended up finding someone on kijiji and was quite happy. Took 2 days and both bikes are running great now.

This is the guy I used in the NW. Was happy, 40$ for each of my bikes which was pretty good considering my mountain bike (that doubles as a winter commuter) needed quite a bit of work. Brakes weren't great as one started dragging a bit and both front and rear shifters needed adjusting from skipping between gears. Chain was in rough shape and needed a nice cleaning, etc. Lots of abuse from a full winter of riding it every day. Bike runs way better now and very happy.

hey guys i didn't want to start a new thread but i need some help trouble shooting. i have a cervelo S2 2x11 ultegra 50/34 front 11-28 on the back, almost 6000km of use. now when i am coasting at moderate to higher speeds, say >25kph, there is occasionally (but becoming more frequent) a very loud grinding sound that i think is coming from the back wheel or freehub. nothing appears to be rubbing on visual inspection, the wheel is moving great, the gears are tuned perfectly. the noise lessens and almost goes away if i continue pedaling. i thought initially that it may have been the cassette or something was loose, so i took the cassette off, did some general checking, put it back on tight and it's still there. any ideas?
on another note, that may or may not be related, i had found over the winter while zwifting, when i was climbing a hill or had lowered my cadence into the 60s, there was an intermittent, subtle but notable clunking sound that also seemed to be coming from the back.
    TIA
