Been having some issues with my commuter of late, getting chain slip (feels like the chain jumps a tooth) anytime I'm putting the power down and got worse and worse as the weeks went on.
So this weekend, changed the freewheel cassette and new chain, but still getting a bit of slip. Could it be the front chain ring is also too worn? Or is there something else I'm missing? It's a freewheel cassette, so its essentially a brand new freewheel. Not sure what other moving parts there could be that could cause a slip/jump.
I'd look at the derailleur hanger to make sure it's straight (with a tool, not with your eyes) and go through the derailleurs (redo the limit screws and re-index). If that's not working then could be worn chainrings, they're pretty cheap to replace if you just get a chainring or two. A LOT of issues end up being a bent derailleur hanger....get someone to check it with a derailleur hanger tool.

Just ordered some Carbonfan rims from China...first piece of my new mountain bike. I'm going to have the techs at MEC in Seton build up the wheels. I've laced wheels before, but it takes me too long to get them right.

Then it's probably a frame in a couple of months, and a box of parts from WWC, and same techs are going to build up the bike itself. Can't wait.

Going to put 105 R7000 or Ultegra R8000 groupset on this.
What are the go to online stores again since CR doesn't ship to Canada?

is that just Shimano stuff which CRC doesn't sell to Canada? I just ordered a jersey from CRC, it shipped out no problem.
Wiggle owns CRC so I assume it would be the same.

    How about Merlin?

Yeah you are right, they dont ship Shimano parts only to Canada.
I tried Wiggle and wasn't seeing Shimano parts either.
    I'll check Merlin out.

Any experience with the new 7000/8000 groupset?

No I don't know much about the new Ultegra. Other than the rear mech, the spider I didn't think the change is too significant.

Bike24 still ships Shimano to Canada, but they don't have free shipping.

    Probikekit.ca still list Shimano stuff.

Went with Merlin as it was the cheapest of them all.
Also went with 105 R7000, although Ultegra R8000 was only $200 more.

still not sure... will list it on Kijiji and PinkBike to cover some of the cost but not a big rush... but for sure the wife will not allow me to have 4 bikes in the garage
if no bite, I might part it out and sell parts separately.. maybe put the 2x10 105 on the JTS as I've been wanting to replace the 3x9 105 anyway.

Have you guys found a way to get components out of the German sites? Mail forwarding or something?

I’m pretty sure bike24 and bike-discount.de both ship to Canada. Wasn’t aware of any restrictions.

they wont sell you stuff from the major component makers. turns out forwarding is pointless since you need to pay VAT.

Maybe Bike24 is different. I bought my Tacx Vortex Smart from Bike24 a few years ago, and a pair of Shimano hydraulic shifters recently.

So... figured I needed to embrace my Inglewood lifestyle and build a vintage brewery hopper

Found this ugly thing for $60, thought it was kind of a neat bit of canadiana. Beekay, was “assembled in Canada” but everything was Japanese. Mix of suntour and shimano parts, not that I will be using much of them.

It’s pretty damn flat around here, so I’m thinking a pretty aggressive fixie. I have another bike for the more hilly stuff (which has brakes!) so this will be as basic as it gets, clean it up. Get some track wheels and go, then maybe slowly upgrade from there
