Bike stand arrives today from Amazon. Cost seems to have gone up but I paid $229 with prime shipping. Very solid and folds up nicely. Same/similar one is available from CCR under a different name...but basically same cost, no customs and this one comes with an Uber cool tray!

update about my rear wheel grinding noise - went into the bike shop today on 12th ave with my rear wheel. told the guy (james) my story and he diagnosed the problem in 1.5 seconds. it's called the "mavic howl" or the "mavic death squeal"

the hub and bearings are fine but the inside bushel is made of a hard white plastic which gets worn down over time/with use. this then vibrates against the hub during free wheeling to make the noise if i understood it correctly. he did a quick clean, lube of that area which may help temporarily but didn't have that piece in stock so have ordered it in ($50) and the system will be good as new once installed.

I've had that on a couple Mavics as well. I changed to a well reviewed hubdoctor freehub off ebay (like this - careful to get the right one but you can contact the seller https://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Up-HUB...sAAOSwo6lWK74Y) which uses bearings instead of the plastic bushing and haven't had any issues in about 3000km. Apparently you're still supposed to lubricate but I haven't touched it yet. I got new pawls as well which are slightly noisier. He sells better quality bushings too.

I just did the exact relube procedure on my wife's mavic wheel. Seems better, but still drags. Thanks for the info on the freehub part - I might order their new bushing or the entire freehub.
