Default Strobe light / extra lights for tail light+turn signals+brake light

    Hey everyone,

So I'm trying to ride more and more, but still am scared shitless by how close people get to me.

I saw this lighting thing called "Strobinator", which essentially flashes LED light to get attention of people behind.

It's expensive as hell but are there any other alternatives?

Do you use any sort of strobe light or extra lighting system to enhance your visibility ?

I"m very inexperienced so I can't say that being "defensive" would be enough; anything to be more visible helps. Especially at night.

Plz share your suggestions, thank you!

With the amount of distracted drivers I feel the money saving grace is ride like people want to kill you and ride defensively.

Don't stop and put your bike in neutral. Stop so you give yourself a escape plan.

Custom led lights are pretty big in the VIP car world... could probably find a tutorial on building your own or get a quote from these guys:

Personally, my approach is to always be passing

Are you talking about a bicycle or a motorbike? Because strobe lights would be highly illegal on a motorbike. If you're talking about a bicycle, then yes more lighting is always good. But the biggest thing I do is try to avoid riding on the roads whenever possible. Use bike paths and side roads whenever you can. Much safer.

I'm talking about a motorcycle. I'm not talking about a constant strobe light; more so something that will just blink more / brighter to get attention of the person behind.

Here's an example of what i'm talking about:

So basically just something that flashes differently to get attention.

Of course brighter signal/tail light would also be helpful

I see. Good idea, but pretty sure any flashing red lights on a vehicle are illegal and reserved only for law enforcement.

Agreed. A strobe light is not gonna control the braking distance for someone behind you.

Give yourself more space with the vehicle stopped ahead of you, leave it in first and pick a lane position that gives you an "out" should you need to move quickly

Not sure what kind of bike you have, I have had one of these lights on my bike since i got it. Seems to get peoples attention, and the cop who pulled me over "to let me know my tail light was "flashing" when i was braking".

I had something similar to that on my KLR 650. Found it actually really grabbed attention. I have noticed other bikes and a car (Audi) that had it. Always stands out to me.
