Definitely not worse. He has similar ideals as Gulutzan but is much more of a motivator and a hardass whereas GG was mr nice guy. Flames really need that.

I'm lukewarm on the idea myself but hell, even if whoever we bring in just knows how to run decent special teams I'll be happy. None of the other names out there excite me much anyway

I think we were third last in the league on the PP. And yeah, I think if we were even middle of the pack on the PP, we'd be in the playoffs (though I doubt we'd have made it beyond the first round). There were a lot of games we should have won if we had capitalized on the man advantage.

Team needed change, still not sold this is the correct one. AV was tempting, but honestly what has he been able to do with really talented teams? Bunch of round 1 and 2 exits with two trips to the finals, both of which fizzled out. More so the teams carried him over his skillset, in my opinion.

No but still there is no rush to name a coach. Roster might not be the same but the ability to get the team going may be.

Agreed. Not sure what the rush is given that Peters is busy coaching Team Canada. I guess Dallas showed interest in Peters, but there are a handful of (IMO) better coaching options out there.
As long as Peters picks a decent set of assistant coaches who can run the special teams, then it'll be a dramatic improvement over the last regime.

Just play some god damn run and gun hockey please!

I must say we can use more players who can skate. And size and grit can be improved upon too. I know we can't have it all. Watching teams like Vegas and then watching the Flames one can feel underwhelmed.

There was a small window to get Peters though. He had a certain amount of time to opt out of the last year of his contract and you can bet he wasn't going to turn away from $1.6m a year without another job lined up first.

Not saying I like the move yet but that's what the rush was

From Twitter: A judge just ruled that linesman Don Henderson must pay partial legal costs to Calgary Flames and Dennis Wideman, following his failed lawsuit against them. 8k to Flames, 3k to Wideman. NHL did not seek costs.

As a reminder, Henderson sued Wideman, the NHL and the Flames for 10.5 million after he was hit from behind in a game. Judge eventually kicked case to NHL aribitrators, saying they should handle it. Henderson hasn’t worked since, still on disability.
