Coaches come to Calgary to die, players goto Edmonton and NY Rangers to die, and they languish and flounder in Calgary.

Honestly, could ANY coach come into Calgary and make a difference? I think Calgary has a whole culture of just collecting a paycheck and I don't think that is going to change any time soon. I will praise Brad Treliving for trying to find a way to spark that drive, but shit, we change coaches more often than any other team in the league (at least it feels that way) and we are getting no where, just more of the same.

Why not fire the goalie coach Jordan Sigalet too? I don't think he's part of the solution either with the way our young goalies have performed.
    Cause Smith saved his job.

I tried to google if there was a coach tracker or something, but nothing popped up or my googling skills sucked. So I just typed in a few quick teams to check and picked 2003 as a number since.

    Cgy - 6
    Pit - 5
    Edm - 7
    Wash - 5
    Flor - 9
    Buf - 5 (4 in 4 years tho)
    NYI - 8
    Bos - 5
    Tor - 6

I remember TSN did an article that I believe the NHL typically has 8-11 head coaches fired per season. It is a ruthless business for security. Between team success, butting heads with players or rotating upper management and wanting a guy that fits their style... aint easy

I disagree. Look at the AHL coaches for that one. The goalies here played great (except Laak, but hes a lost cause) it was a breakdown on all sides at the end that lead to the season ending early.

I think if you're looking to clean house, you should really clean house and not keep remnants of a coaching staff that was part of the failure. I honestly don't know what Gelinas does.

Heard from Elliotte Friedman on Fan960 that Flames will most likely hire Bill Peters as their next head coach. Not quite the "experienced" coach we need, but okay...

Peters steps down as Cane's coach:

I don't like the way this is going. Seems like a lot of hype for a guy who hasn't accomplished much at the NHL level.

The Calgary fanbase, including myself would be a lot more comfortable with a true top teir coach not someone with huge potential.

Not sure if Treliving even bothered with interviewing other potential candidates out there at all.

I'll reserve judgment until I see if hiring Bill Peters is actually true, but this hire will make or break Treliving's GM gig in Calgary by next season, maybe sooner.

Haha it's mostly Gelinas more often than not. I swear thats literally the only thing he does.

If this guy gets hired I think I'll skip next season, why go from one mediocre person to the next, should just stay with GG at least we don't have to waste half a season learning a new system that doesn't work

"The Hurricanes have missed the playoffs four seasons in a row under Peters"

Seems like he'll fit in great here.

Yeah, that's not exactly what I had in mind for wanting consistency on this team.

What the actual fuck. I’ll reserve judgement until a decision is actually made, but he’s gotta be even WORSE than GG. What the hell are they thinking?

Peters is from around here so it’s the nice thing to do. Flames wanted nothing to do with Kane during trade deadline because his attitude doesn’t fit well with our niceness. It all makes sense. Nice guys finish last haha.

Just more traction for the fans to hate the organization and more reason and firepower for the ownership to justify a move to Houston
