    Default Peter Mansbridge Retirement

Unfortunately below (Sept 2016) is the most recent article on this, but only recalled Mansbridge announcing his retirement around November 2016 on a random road trip, to be that of July 1, 2017.

Last night I was watching the national, a guilty pleasure of mine and a nightly tradition, but Mansbridge was anchoring and after the segment "the insider", he announced that this was his last "insider" (political bantering briefing).

I don't know about you guys, but i've always seen Mansbridge as a Canadian icon and he made CBC news what it is. IE the only one to interview all running candidates for prime minister in this last federal election.

This is really dating myself and illustrating how boring my life is
But whatever, he'll be missed in my books anyways.

That is the truth. Whoever taking over has some big shoe to fill.

I had the pleasure of attending a couple of Business Hall of Fame gala dinners that he was host at. He is truly one of the best.

Wendy Mesley has been making a lot of appearances lately and pretty decent.
    Still no Mansbridge though.

Mansbridge hit that in the 90s. Given she's already 60, I doubt they will hand it to her. Still no idea who will take over. There isn't anyone in the bullpen that's good.

    George Strombo jk.
    http://nationalpost.com/news/canada/...0-fd24bf33bbce

The former host of The Hour has a career of getting highly anticipated non-CBC jobs — and then being dismissed from them unusually quickly. ABC did it 10 years ago with The One, a Stroumboulopoulos-hosted talent show cancelled after four episodes. CNN picked him up for an interview show that was cancelled after seven episodes. And then, most recently, Rogers sent him packing off their rejigged version of Hockey Night in Canada. So, Strombo might be available for TV again — and a tempting target for any CBC vice president shopping around for someone to appeal to the “youth demographic.”
Then again that article is probably jk as well

    Norm Macdonald

The former host of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update? The 2016 host of the Canadian Screen Awards? A born-and-raised Ottawan whose brother Neil is already a CBC journalist? A flagship news program hosted by Norm Macdonald would certainly be a “big rethink,” to quote another CBC buzzphrase. But yes, there is almost no chance of this happening … probably.
I will watch the shit out the National if this happens.

    Good. Not a fan.

The guy is the definition of a government-boosting, left-wife, toronto-centric broadcaster. The CBC is the furthest thing from an unbiased broadcaster...and mansbridge was one of the worst. But why should we expect them to be unbiased, when their self-interest (and existence) is dependent on liberal (or Liberal) governments. Mansbridge's performance in the last election was atrocious.

Good man, much props, got a little weird when he started wearing lipstick in the Mcgyver years, but it all ended up ok.

It's amazing how much attitudes on Beyond have changed over the years. I honestly didn't realize so many members were tree hugging hippies who happened to work in O&G. I can't even listen to CBC news on the radio anymore, 8-10 years ago it was alright, but one morning I had to institute a company truck policy with the other coworkers because some of the asinine bullshit coming from that station was astounding.

People get mad about The Rebel, street goes both ways, CBC is quite literally no better. They need to be shitcanned and removed from the government dole.

News designed to generate revenue and profit above all else seems a doomed concept.

I dont watch or listen to local news, i cant somach liberals, but i support the cbc.

It does confuse me when a company stacked by stephen harper is called liberal, because the news is not outrageous like the rebel.

Do you realize how ridiculous this is? It's impossible to make any meaningful comparison between the two.

I really don't understand CBC haters.
