And you can bet that those who are looking for work and acted like that were "bottom of the barrel" quality engineers in the industry.

Conversely, is it ok for companies to ask how much your salary expectations are? I'm just playing ExtraSlow's advocate. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They always do when I had interviews and gave them a range that fits the average on glassdoor and what I want on the high endThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Best not to put a value to it; the company is putting you in an awkward situation when they do that. To me, it shows that the company is trying to see if they can hire me for less or see if I'm too entitled. But I would never put a value. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I would just say, "similar to a xxx role in a major oil and gas company with xx years experience" and I might be more specific and mention a little more based on my experience at xx or something if it was something completely valid.
2 key parts of an employment agreement:
What do you want me to do?
And
What do you want to pay me to do it?
While I don’t think it’s the most tactful thing to bring up, it’s interesting that someone asking one of the 2 key questions “puts them at the bottom of the list”.

Yeah it sucks when you are in those interviews where they do an initial one with just HR. Depending on the role, HR doesn't know wtf they are doing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The best interviews are the ones with HR and the hiring manager in there so they can talk more about your technical skills than just generic stuff (although is important as well).
I mean I guess it’s also important to figure out if they play goal in beer league, but hey I don’t pretend to know peoples priorities.

If a single person is spending $6700/month in expenses he/ she is definitely doing blow and or living one hell of a lifestyle.
Moral of the story, have 6 months liquidity for YOUR lifestyle. Whatever that number may be.
