Hi guys,
Wife wants to go camping. We haven't gone in forever, and usually used to go to BC, however, this time around, we would like to camp somewhere nearby, would be ideal if there was a lake or a river nearby. Any recommendations?

Sibbald has a small lake . Dawson's equestrian has a small creek. 45 minute drive or so.
Ghost Lake?
Red Lodge Provincial Park is close (about 1 hr drive - it's just west of Bowden). It's on the little red deer river (which is more like a creek), however it's close to Glennifer.
When are you looking for. Interlakes is awesome, but you'll never get a spot there on the weekend unless going out early (im headed out tomorrow..). You talking this long weekend?
All the alberta provincial campsites are booked through the "reserve alberta parks" website. And yeah, you need to be ninety days on the dot from your arrival date to have a hope of a reservation, and 91 for long weekends, if you know what I mean.
Non-reservable spots are the ticket, and spending some time on gravel gives you much better odds.
Livinsgston falls, dutch creek are both scenic spots beside creeks. http://rockymountaincamping.ca/

I typically camp right here: https://www.google.ca/maps/@51.40465...2!8i6656?hl=en
So, I don't have much to compare to since we've only gone camping once since getting our trailer, but we really liked Crawling Valley Campground. 90 minutes away, it's right on the reservoir (with docks for fishing), has electrical service (no water/waste in the spots, but there is a station to fill/dump in the campground). Only loop 'A' or inner 'C' though, loop B is wide open and cramped. Mostly for those who brought boats to moor at the docks, and get out fishing early in the AM.
NOT a party campground though, they're fairly strict about loudness, and also have a rule against "aggressive breeds" of dog.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I am not looking to go this weekend, more like closer to the end of July. It will be tenting so don't need much but a spot.
I will take a look at all the options. Thank you.
kinbrook island near brooks.
Spray lakes is really nice, no reserving. Just behind Canmore.
