    Default Best Italian Date Restaurant

Going on a date with someone who loves Italian food and I want to take her to a nice place that serves exceptional Italian food. The more authentic the better. I don't really care if its an old looking restaurant as the primary motive is great food.

Please post on what great experiences you've had.

    Thanks!

Not the fanciest, but Rea's is great. Hidden gem.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Rea's has always been my favourite and I've been going there since the 80's.

Calamari. Linguini and clams in red sauce. Fuck yeah.

Bocce is good however we have both been there before. Looks like Rea's is ahead of the pack for my selection.

Luna Rossa has also been mentioned to me a few times.

The new place Cotto Italian Comfort Food in Kensington is pretty cool, very nice but a bit more casual which would be my preference for a date.

Food is awesome, former kitchen staff and owner from Borgo Trattoria.

Could through La Brezza in the mix, but I am unsure of how they are doing after the owners passing

    +1 for Reas

So no one is interested in this date and what his intentions are? Is this a potentially long term relationship or are you just going for the good ol' hump and dump and smash and dash? Or are you genuinely interested in the food?

All of these beyond foodies talking about all these little Italian shacks and I'm over here thinking, man do I love those Olive Garden breadsticks!!!

I always thought Mercato was pretty meh

As for Olive Garden I would be too concerned about spending the rest of the night on the throne getting in the way of any hump and dump plans...

Hence me asking if this is a short or long term endeavor. If it's a long term thing, then you might want to give her a preview of things to come!

Mercato's is alright. It's not memorable though.

Sugo doesn't exist anymore, I didn't get the sense it was ever that popular. It was expensive for very standard food. They also own WOP next door which I think is thriving.

OP: If this is a first or early date, might I suggest not breaking the bank on food haha. Made that mistake before...
