    Default Bedroom Fans

I have AC in my condo, but is getting older and isn't pumping out like a new one probably would (and i'm too cheap to replace it right now...)

Looking at either installing a ceiling fan or getting a temporary stand up osculating fan for my room.
Looking at home depots website for stand up fans a ton of price ranges and all look like they do the same thing.... and not sure if i want to commit to a ceiling fan (part of me thinks they look tacky).

What do you guys do for those hot nights?
Those with AC and still looking for something extra... and those without

I installed Haiku fans throughout the bedrooms and above the main stairs. Fans make your house a lot more efficient.

We'll probably get AC when we do the full mechanic room upgrade next year, but the fans will still help a lot.

    These are actually beauty fans!
I'll definitely look into these some more. Anywhere local have them?
... Also didn't think about home efficiency, but makes sense.

There are also Monte Carlo fans. I bought mine at the Lighting Centre.

Check the AC filter and cooling fins for anything obvious - once I was about to replace an office window AC unit (hole cut in wall with AC unit stuck in) but turned out the filter was just clogged from months of neglect. A good compressed air cleaning was all it took.

Window-mounted fans are good at night too once the air temps drop below 20c.

    THANKS!!!!
I'll do that when i get home...

The unit is on my roof (easily accessible though).
Is this filter going to be on the unit itself? Or are you talking about the filter in the hvac system.

Air conditioning is pretty basic, not much has advanced in 30 years. If it isn't putting out cold air like it was, you either have lost some refrigerant, the compressor is going on it, or (as mentioned) your furnace filter is clogged. Any of these repairs is going to be much cheaper than a new one, and probably less than one of those Haiku fans

I had a window fan at my old place which was decent if it was cool enough outside. I have ceiling fans in my current place and they kick ass. So far for this heat wave I leave the windows open at night, then close them and all curtains in the morning to keep the cool air in and heat/sun out. The house only warm up to about 24 inside but then I get the ceiling fan going in the bedroom for sleep time and it's perfect, only need it on medium too, we'll see how +32-34 goes though, heh. While I assume running AC costs more than running a ceiling fan I don't know if the difference adds up to much.

AC is is WAAAAY more expensive to run than ceiling fans. But ceiling fan usage along with AC can cut your heating/cooling bill significantly.

That's what I thought, I know a ceiling fan in the same room as a fireplace heats the room up super fast and keeps it that way for hours without the fireplace having to be on for more than ~20 mins.
