The sheer amount of dead standing pine as a result of pine beetle infestations was at one point going to create a problem - up in the 100 Mile House area there are areas where dead pines reached as far as the eye could see and that was 8-10 years ago. This is nature revitalizing itself but the unfortunate offshoot is the danger to humans and their developments.
    Will fuck off, again.

Yep, another year of brown skies in AB .... but this has been long time coming. If nature isnt allowed to take its course, it will rebel harshly and do it on its own

Reminds me of 2003, but this is probably a lot worse.

It has been getting worse today, I flipped on the news at noon and they anchor is getting exasperated just trying to keep up on the reports coming in from the fires.

There are highway closures going in, I would say keep checking DriveBC.com for updates if you are coming into the province for Vacation. Most of the closures are West of Kamloops right now.

It wouldn't surprise me if more fires started up today and tomorrow, it is crazy hot in the interior and they are saying fires started by lightning are taking only 15 to 20 minutes to turn into a major fire.

Lakes are pretty high, where I was staying they still had sandbags in place. I would say most beaches are re-opened, but are a lot smaller than normal just because of the water level.
Yea we've noticed the place we go to it's been insanely hot and dry this year. Temperatures are hitting around 4-5degrees hotter than last year around this time

Been watching carefully. FIL's place is surrounded by 3 major fires. No evacuation for him yet, just have to cross fingers at this point with no sign of rain for the next week.

Oh man, the Okanagan is not getting a break.

Hopefully they don't cancel events that are coming up, especially since we're heading there in September.

Here's the map, for anyone looking. http://apps.gov.bc.ca/pub/dmf-viewer...84402955244847

One just popped up yesterday afternoon, right close to the campground I booked yesterday morning. God damn it.

Google maps will make it pretty obvious from the traffic, and it's pretty quick to update road closures when they happen.

If your 3 month old suffers from bad air, then I would be keeping them indoors..... here is a web cam from Sorrento:
